Abstract: To provide a printing apparatus capable of maintaining ejection performance without increasing the size of a recovery unit. The printing apparatus includes: a cap capable of covering an ejection port surface having an ejection port formed therein to eject a liquid; a cap holding portion that movably holds the cap between a position where the cap contacts the ejection port surface and a position where the cap does not contact the ejection port surface; a suction unit capable of sucking the liquid from the cap; a collection unit for collecting the liquid sucked by the suction unit; a first channel connecting the cap and the suction unit; and a second channel connecting the suction unit and the collection unit. In top view, a part of the first channel and a part of the second channel are disposed at positions overlapping with the cap holding portion.
