Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a thiazole compound and a herbicide containing the thiazole compound. The present invention relates to a thiazole compound represented by general formula (1): wherein R1 and R2 are identical or different and represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an alkyl group which may have a substituent, R3 and R4 are identical or different and represent, for example, a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, or a halogen atom, R5, R6, R7, R8, and R9 are identical or different and represent, for example, a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or a hydroxyl group, at least one of R5, R6, R7, R8 or R9 represents a hydroxyl group, an OCOR12 group, a COR13 group, or an OSO2R14 group, R10, R11, R12, R13, and R14 represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have a substituent, or an aryl group which may have a substituent, and n represents 0, 1, or 2.
