  • Patent number: 5298542
Abstract: An acrylic ester copolymer plastisol composition comprises (A) copolymer particles comprising, as the major components thereof, (a) 98 to 50 weight % of an alkyl acrylate unit having an alkyl group of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and/or an alkyl methacrylate unit having an alkyl group of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and (b) 2 to 50 weight % of a diene monomer unit, (B) a plasticizer and, optionally, (C) a vulcanizing agent. Another acrylic ester copolymer plastisol composition comprises (A) copolymer particles comprising an ionic crosslinked copolymer prepared by ionic crosslinking of a copolymer comprising, as the major components thereof, (a) 97 to 50 weight % of an alkyl acrylate unit having an alkyl group of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and/or an alkyl methacrylate unit having an alkyl group of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, (b) 2 to 40 weight % of a diene monomer unit and (c) 1 to 20 weight % of a radical polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid unit of 3 to 8 carbon atoms having a carboxyl group and (B) a plasticizer.

  • Patent number: 5274006
Abstract: The present invention provides a foamable epoxy resin composition (A) 100 parts by weight of a liquid epoxy resin (B) 0.5-20 parts by weight of a latent curing agent, (C) 0.5-15 parts by weight of a foaming agent having a decomposition temperature of 100.degree.-220.degree. C., (D) 0.05-5 parts by weight of a surface active agent and (E) 10-200 parts by weight of a rubbery elastomer or a powdery halogen-free thermoplastic resin of 150 .mu.m or less in average particle diameter, which composition has a melt viscosity of 2.5.times.10.sup.3 -5.times.10.sup.4 dPa.multidot.s at the decomposition temperature of said foaming agent. The composition can provide a foamed material of rigidity and good heat resistance, having an expansion ratio of 5 times or more and a dense cell structure of 0.5 mm or less in average cell diameter.

  • Patent number: 5271612
Abstract: A vibration-damping structural body for a vehicle, which comprises a sublayer sheet composed of a foamed thermoset resin and fusion-bonded onto a vehicle part, and at least one layer, which is fusion-bonded onto the sublayer and is selected from a damping intermediate sheet (2) comprised of a viscoelastic material and restraining sheet (3). The sublayer sheet (1) is formed from a semi-gelled sheet made by heating a forming and thermosetting resin composition comprising (A) an epoxy resin, (B) a coreacting curing agent, (C) a foaming agent, (D) a surface active agent and (E) a rubber-like elastic material or a powdery thermoplastic resin not containing halogen, which is insoluble in the epoxy resin at room temperature, but is miscible with and dispersible in the epoxy resin at 80.degree. to 150.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5198286
Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a panel-reinforcing sheet material having a multi-layered structure consisting of a first layer, a second layer and, optionally, a third layer, the first layer consisting of a foamable composition comprising, as essential components, (A) epoxy resin, (B) a rubber elastomer or a halogen-free powder thermoplastic resin of 150 .mu.m or less in average particle diameter, (C) a plasticizer, (D) a high-temperature-decomposition type blowing agent and (E) a heat-activaiton type hardener for epoxy resin, the component (A)/component (B) weight ratio being 0.2-5, the second layer consisting of a cloth, and the third layer consisting of a thin metal film of 50 .mu.m or less in thickness. This sheet material has good adhesion to oily surfaces and, when subjected to blowing and hardening, gives a sheet of good heat resistance, and can therefore be suitably used for the reinforcement of vehicle outer panel before electrodeposition.
