  • Patent number: 8467661
Abstract: A DVD recorder with a built-in HDD records a selected television program and commercial information about a commercial in the television program when recording. In a commercial skip mode, the recorder displays on a TV monitor only a program video of the television program with a commercial video in the television program skipped, and displays on a display screen on the front surface of the body of the recorder commercial information about the skipped commercial video. Therefore, a sponsor can provide an advertisement to a viewer even when the commercial skip mode is performed, by means of the commercial information displayed on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 7680009
Abstract: An optical disc reproducing apparatus has a function of setting a cutoff frequency and a boost amount of a read out signal from an optical disc and performing equalizer adjustment, and includes a system controller for searching for an optimal jitter value by simultaneously changing a cutoff frequency and a boost amount to thereby set positions of jitter measuring points determined on a coordinate plane whose abscissas represent cutoff frequencies and whose ordinates represent boost amounts, and by moving the measuring points.

  • Publication number: 20060133235
Abstract: An optical disc apparatus includes: a pickup head including light sources for irradiating laser beams onto each of the two types of optical discs set in the unit main body and photodetectors for detecting the reflected light amount from the optical disc; and a control unit for permitting one light source of the pickup head to irradiate light source and inhibiting the other light source of the pickup head from irradiating light source in accordance with the type of an optical disc set in the unit main body, wherein the pickup head has a monitoring photodetector for detecting the light amount of laser beams irradiated from the each light source and a monitoring output selector for selectively inputting the output of the monitoring photodetector to the control unit.
