  • Patent number: 4922148
Abstract: A portion of a rear bracket an alternator for engine is in direct contact with an engine block, and a coolant passage for connecting a passage of the rear bracket and the engine cooling system is liquid-tightly formed through this, replacing the prior art inlet and outlet hose, removed, resulting in minimization of pressure loss of engine coolant, increase of flow rate of coolant and improved cooling.

  • Patent number: 4898038
Abstract: In the present invention, a clutch plate is attached to a crankshaft; revolving-field poles are fixed on this clutch plate; and a magnetic gap is provided between the outer peripheral section of a pair of field cores which hold field coils, and the inner peripheral section of the revolving-field poles. Since a clutch plate material suitable for the accomplishment of clutch function can be selected, it is possible to improve the reliability of the clutch and to avoid giving a heat effect to the revolving-field poles. Furthermore, decreasing the size and weight of the fixed magnetic field can reduce parts cost as well as assembly cost.

  • Patent number: 4870307
Abstract: An ac generator for a vehicle comprises a rotor field core fixed on a rotary shaft and magnetized by a field coil, a stator armature core surrounding the rotor field core, a stator armature coil wound on the stator armature core, an enclosure for liquid-tightly covering the stator armature coil, a generally cylindrical front bracket and a rear bracket. The front and the rear brackets are mounted directly to the cylinder block of the engine for defining a coolant passage between the front bracket, an outer wall of the rear bracket and an outer surface of the enclosure, the coolant passage having an inlet port connected to a upstream portion of an engine coolant passage and an outlet port connected to a downstream portion of the engine coolant passage, so that a portion of engine coolant flows through the coolant passage to cool at least the stator armature coil and the stator armature core.

  • Patent number: 4849665
Abstract: An alternator for a vehicle includes a stator mounted on the inner periphery of first and second bowl-like brackets separated by a plane perpendicularly crossing an output shaft, and a core integrally fixed to the shaft and surrounded by the first and second brackets, wherein the shaft is supported at the substantially central portions of the first and second brackets. The improvement comprises upper and lower flanges formed at the outer periphery of the first bracket in such a manner as to extend both parallel to the shaft, and perpendicular, in a direction tangent to the outer periphery of the first bracket, and elongated mounting bolts for fixing the alternator to the vehicle engine at the upper and lower flanges through mounting holes formed through the upper and lower flanges. This tends to isolate the rotor from engine vibration.

  • Patent number: 4818906
Abstract: A belt driven vehicle alternator is enclosed by front and rear brackets/casing members 26, 30 which, in combination with an aluminum housing 24 surrounding the rotor and stator cores/coils, define flow passages for a liquid coolant branched off from the engine cooling system. The coolant inlet and outlet ports 28, 29 are both provided in the rear casing member 30 and are circumferentially proximate each other to minimize the space occupied by the alternator cooling system and tubes in the crowded engine compartment.

  • Patent number: 4765283
Abstract: A cooling device for cooling a vehicle mounted generator by using an engine coolant of the vehicle includes a temperature sensor 13 for sensing the temperature of the engine coolant, an electromagnetic valve 9 and a control device 14 responsive to the output of the temperature sensor to on-off control the valve such that when the output of the sensor is higher than an upper reference value preset in the control device or lower than a lower reference value preset therein, the valve is closed.
