  • Patent number: 4867765
Abstract: A self-discharge type pulse charging electrostatic precipitator includes a high-speed switching element through which the electrical charge stored in a condenser is suddenly supplied to the electrostatic precipitator and the charge is dissipated in an internal resistance in the precipitator. A charging section of the electrostatic precipitator for one power source is divided into a plurality of charging sections which are coupled with each other through inductive elements. The electrostatic precipitator includes a device for supplying the electrical charge to each of the divided charging sections through the high-speed switching element successively in a time sharing manner and a charging capacitor having a capacitance which is substantially equal to a capacitance of the divided charging section. The electrostatic precipitator possesses enhanced precipitation efficiency by suppressing the back ionization and realizes reduction in cost of the power source.

  • Patent number: 4792387
Abstract: An air-fuel ratio detecting device with which the air-fuel ratio can be accurately detected over the entire range of ratios, both for the lean range and for the rich range. An oxygen pumping element and an oxygen sensing element are arranged opposite one another with a gap therebetween and are disposed in a chamber in which exhaust gas flows. A signal which is symmetric in lean and rich regions is thereby obtained, and this signal is divided into separate portions in the two regions, which are then composed to obtain a single-valued signal accurately representing the air-fuel ratio over the entire operating range.

  • Patent number: 4733102
Abstract: An impulse high voltage generator includes a step-up transformer for stepping up a voltage from an AC power source, a thyristor connected with a primary winding of the transformer for controlling the AC voltage from the AC power source by a firing angle, a full-wave rectifier and a capacitor which are connected with a secondary winding of the transformer, and a discharging resistor connected through a high-speed switching element to the secondary winding. The thyristor is turned on at a firing angle in accordance with a frequency which is set by a setting device for setting an impulse high voltage occurence frequency so that the capacitor is charged, while when the thyristor is turned off, the high-speed switching element is turned on to discharge the capacitor so that an impulse high voltage is generated across the discharging resistor. The impulse high voltage generator can vary a peak value and the occurrence frequency of the impulse high voltage simply and inexpensively with high efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4629549
Abstract: In an oxygen sensor which is provided with an oxygen pump element having electrodes on both front and rear surfaces of a solid electrolyte plate with oxygen ion conductive property, voltage from an external power source is applied between the electrodes and a pumping current flows between the electrodes. Thereby oxygen is pumped out of ambient gases to be measured through a member including a gap with oxygen diffusion limiting property. The limit value of the pumping current accompanied by the oxygen pumping is determined or the oxygen concentration difference produced before and after the diffusive motion of oxygen through the member or oxygen concentration produced after the diffusive motion of oxygen through the member is measured. Thereby the oxygen concentration of the ambient gases is calculated.
