  • Patent number: 5635805
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle has a clutch between the engine and the rotational electrodynamic unit. A driving energy transmission mechanism is provided between the clutch and the rotational electrodynamic unit for transmitting driving energy to an appliance such as an alternator. When driving the engine, the clutch is closed by a clutch controlling unit, and the engine makes the rotational electrodynamic unit function as a generator to operate the appliances. When the engine is stopped, the clutch is opened by the clutch controlling means, and the rotational electrodynamic unit is caused to operate as a motor to operate the appliances. In the system where the appliances are driven by the engine, the appliances are kept being operated even after the engine stops. This structure is applicable to both a series hybrid vehicle and a parallel hybrid vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5460577
Abstract: In an automatic transmission according to the present invention, a coast brake cutoff valve is arranged between a range-pressure-producing manual valve and shift valves and, when changed over, selectively feeds oil to hydraulic engine brake servomotors. An engine brake solenoid valve is on/off controlled by a shifting output signal from a CPU, whereby the coast brake cutoff valve is selectively changed over. A lockout valve is arranged between the coast brake cutoff valve and the manual valve and is connected to one of shifting solenoid valves. The automatic transmission can therefore be operated without trouble even when an electrical problem occurs in the shifting solenoid valves and/or the engine brake solenoid valve.

  • Patent number: 5411451
Abstract: A control system is provided for servo hydraulic pressure in an automatic transmission. Upon downshifting, one of first and second frictional engagement devices is released while the other is engaged. A directional control valve is provided to feed or drain servo hydraulic pressure to selectively engage or release the first and second devices. The hydraulic pressure is regulated by a pressure regulator under the control of an electronic control unit. Detectors are also provided to determine input rotation and torque, respectively. The regulator is interposed between the directional control valve and the engaged device. The regulator is controlled to maintain the servo hydraulic pressure at a predetermined value under the control of the electronic control unit until predetermined input rotation is detected and then to gradually raise the servo hydraulic pressure under the control of the electronic control on the basis of the value of input torque.

  • Patent number: 5403248
Abstract: A control system is provided for servo hydraulic pressure in an automatic transmission having planetary gear mechanisms. First and second frictional engagement devices, whose servo pressures are reversed in feed/drain relationship between desired two high speed stages, are controlled by a shift valve and a directional control valve. The shift valve is switched by a first solenoid. The directional control valve is interposed in a servo hydraulic pressure feed/drain line communicating the shift valve with the first frictional engagement device and is controlled by a second solenoid. The first and second solenoids are controlled by an electronic control unit in accordance with a shift position detected by a detector, whereby the timings of feed or drain of the servo hydraulic pressures to or from the first and second frictional engagement devices are changed by predetermined relative amounts, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5368531
Abstract: A method is provided for the control of servo hydraulic pressure in an automatic transmission. Servo hydraulic pressure is adapted to engage or release first and second frictional engagement elements arranged in such a relationship that, upon shifting from one particular speed stage to another, one of the first and second frictional engagement elements is released while the other is engaged. The servo hydraulic pressure, engaging one frictional engagement element, is linearly lowered in a torque phase during a shift so it releases the one frictional engagement element, responsive to a rise in the servo hydraulic pressure to the frictional engagement element to be engaged, to maintain an inversely proportional relationship between the servo hydraulic pressure being raised and that being released.

  • Patent number: 5254053
Abstract: A five-speed automatic transmission includes a main transmission and an over-drive transmission of a front disposition type. The main transmission includes three sets of planetary gears, a clutch for engaging and disengaging speed-change elements of the planetary gear sets, and a brake for fixing and releasing the speed change elements, and provides for four forward speed ranges and one reverse speed range. • Patent number: 5109733
Abstract: An accumulator back pressure control device for an automatic transmission regulates the accumulator back pressure when a shift valve is switched. For example, when up-shifting from first to second speed, when the second brake starts to engage by switching of a shift valve, the rotational speed of the input is varied to change the output torque of the transmission gear mechanism. By detecting the change in rotational speed with a sensor, a pressure control valve (linear solenoid) is controlled by signals from a control unit so that the control pressure is regulated at a desired time. Thus, for example, the change of hydraulic pressure at a control pressure port regulates the oil source pressure (line pressure) and applies such regulated pressure to the back pressure chamber of an accumulator to change the back pressure of the accumulator.

  • Patent number: 5074168
Abstract: A reverse-engaging condition is prevented by a reverse inhibit valve operated by the solenoid valve even if a shift lever is operated to a reverse range at forward running. A solenoid valve controlling a 1-2 shift valve is "OFF" when controlling a manual valve to a reverse range under 7 km/h of a vehical speed. The reverse inhibit valve is at a right-half position. Therefore, the hydraulic pressure from the reverse range port of the manual valve runs through oil passages and supplied to the hydraulic servos. At forward running over 7 km/h the solenoid valve is switched "ON", the reverse inhibit valve is switched to a left-half position and oil passages are isolated. When the solenoid valve is switched at forward running, a hydraulic pressure from a R range port of the manual valve does not operate on a difference of cross sectional areas of lands of the reverse inhibit valve, so that the reverse inhibit valve is kept at the right-half position together with a pressing force of a spring therein.

  • Patent number: 5050459
Abstract: In a hydraulic control system for an automatic transmission comprising a hydraulic servomotor C-2 for a clutch or brake adapted to engage and disengage necessary rotary components of a planetary gear mechanism, and a select valve for selectively supplying hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic servomotor C-2 dependent on two transmission states, the select valve has two input ports selectively supplied with hydraulic pressure dependent on the two transmission states and one output port for outputting hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic servomotor C-2, a first orifice is disposed between the output port and the hydraulic servomotor C-2, and a second orifice is disposed on the same side as either of the two input ports.Upon an upshift from the 2nd to the 3rd speed in the D range condition, a shift valve is changed over such that the line pressure is supplied to one input port of the select valve via a line pressure output port and the second orifice to move a ball valve body in the select valve.

  • Patent number: 5010991
Abstract: A supplying port connecting to a supplying-side hydraulic pressure is arranged in a lock-up control valve. When the lock-up relay valve is switched ON (right half position), a supplying hyraulic pressure is supplied to a second oil chamber through an oil passage, led to a first oil chamber through an orifice and drained to a draining hydraulic oil passage through the oil passage. At this state in the lock-up control valve an inner pressure of the first oil chamber operates on a chamber through the oil passage, while an inner pressure of the second oil chamber operates on a chamber through the oil passage, and a controlling pressure from a linear solenoid valve operates on the controlling chamber. When the controlling pressure from the controlling chamber decreases by a deceleration of a vehicle speed, a valve closes a draining oil port and a drain port and increases an inner pressure of the first oil chamber.
