  • Publication number: 20230199617
Abstract: A communication system for enabling/disabling EDT comprises UEs and a network node. The network node is configured to collect measurements regarding cell information, determine whether EDT is allowed to be used by the UEs to transmit data prior to completing an access procedure, and send a message comprising an EDT indication instructing whether EDT is allowed to be used by the UEs. The UE is configured to initiate a transmission to the network node, receive the message comprising the EDT indication, and determine whether EDT is allowed to be used based on the EDT indication. The communication system may be able to enable or disable EDT for the UE based the status of cell, such that the communication system may avoid a resource waste caused by an early indication in Msg1 or a larger uplink grant in Msg2, and further improve the network performance.

  • Publication number: 20230156719
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for control resource set (CORESET) enhancements that are particularly beneficial for reduced bandwidth wireless communication devices. Embodiments of a method performed by a wireless communication device for a cellular communications system are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device for a cellular communications system comprises receiving, from a network node, information that configures a CORESET for the wireless communication device, the CORESET comprising four or more symbols in the time domain. The method further comprises receiving a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission from the network node within a search space that comprises at least a subset of time-frequency resources within the CORESET. In this manner, the CORESET is enhanced in a way that is particularly beneficial for reduced bandwidth wireless communication devices. Corresponding embodiments of a network node are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20230125598
Abstract: Methods for scheduling mixed type traffics via multiple Transmission/Reception Points (TRPs) are provided. In embodiments disclosed herein, a base station provides, and a wireless device receives, a scheduling information for scheduling the mixed type traffics with different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements via multiple TRPs. In a non-limiting example, the mixed type traffics include an enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) service and an Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communication (URLLC) traffic service, and the scheduling information can be conveyed in a single Downlink Control Information (DCI) or a pair of DCIs. As such, it is possible to enable efficient scheduling of both eMBB traffic and URLLC traffics simultaneously. As a result, it is possible to satisfy a reliability requirement of the URLLC service without sacrificing spectral efficiency and/or throughput of the eMBB service.

  • Publication number: 20230043517
Abstract: A method is disclosed herein for reducing energy consumption in a wireless device. A wireless device (e.g., a user equipment) can provide an indication to a network node (e.g., a base station) to indicate that the wireless device will prioritize energy consumption reduction over some network requirements (e.g., latency and/or scheduling flexibility requirements). Accordingly, the wireless device can perform certain power-saving actions to reduce energy consumption. The network node, upon receiving the indication from the wireless device, can perform certain network-related actions to assist the wireless device in reducing energy consumption. As a result, it is possible for the wireless device to reduce energy consumption and complexity, thus helping to prolong battery life in the wireless device.
