Abstract: The carrier (10) for double-side polishing has a base material 10a the material of which is stainless steel (SUS) , for example, as is before, and the base material 10a is coated with a coating layer 10b of a material having a hardness higher than that of the base material 10a. The coating layer 10b is desirably coated uniformly without variations in thickness and not warped easily, and the material for the coating layer 10b of the double-side polishing carrier 10 is desirably any one selected from diamond-like carbon, a nitride film, a sapphire film and a titanium nitride film. For production of the double-side polishing carrier 10, a double-side polishing carrier 10? having been used for polishing is prepared first. The used carrier 10? is coated with the coating layer 10b. The invention can suppress the progress of abrasion of the double-side polishing carrier, and can provide satisfactory thickness accuracy, film thickness distribution accuracy, and surface roughness.

Abstract: In a pen input and output unit for inputting data by contacting a pen on an input surface of a tablet device and for displaying the input data, display data is updated by detecting that the pen is traveled by a predetermined distance while the pen is in contact with the input surface of the tablet device. The display data can continuously be updated by sliding, reciprocally traveling, circulating or the like the pen on the input surface.

Abstract: A sheet supplying device has at least one sheet stacking portion for stacking a plurality of sheets to be fed, a unit for drawing the sheets out of the sheet stacking portion to feed the drawn sheet to a predetermined path, and a unit for returning a sheet into the sheet stacking portion. This sheet is drawn by the drawing unit but stayed in a position that the leading edge thereof is out of the sheet stacking portion.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a sheet supplying device having a feeding device capable of feeding a copying sheet from a plurality of stacked copying sheets in a sheet stacking portion and a reversing device capable of returning copying sheets desired not to be fed at an instance of feeding process includes an unit for applying a rotational driving force to the feeding device so as to draw a copying sheet out of the stacked copying sheets in the sheet stacking portion by rotating the feeding device in one direction, and an unit for applying a rotational driving force to the reversing device so as to return a copying sheet desired not to be fed to the sheet stacking portion at a time when a plurality of copying sheets are simultaneously fed out from the sheet stacking portion by rotating the reversing device in another direction.

Abstract: A device for storing rectangular sheets to be fed into a sheet conveying path in an image forming apparatus comprises a sheet tray for stacking thereon the rectangular sheets. The movable tray having a first and second sides used for longitudinal and lateral feeds of a sheet with respect to the sheet conveying path, respectively, is movably supported on a base member for the movement between a first and second positions at which the first and second sides of the sheet tray are located at a constant position for the longitudinal and lateral feeds of the sheet, respectively. A connecting member is joined to the sheet tray at a position near the intersection of the first and second sides thereof. A reciprocating device is provided for causing the sheet tray to be moved between the first and second positions by reciprocating the connecting member in a direction transverse to the feeding direction of the sheet with respect to the sheet conveying path.
