The marked sheet is scanned by a scanner. The mark is extracted from data generated by scanning. Registration is performed based on coordinates of the scanned data and the monochrome data. Based on the result of the registration, the extracted mark is represented in original image data. Accordingly, a complicated area can be easily specified so that the user can make a mark by hand.
