  • Patent number: 4816677
Abstract: In a radiation image recording and read-out system, a radiation image is recorded on a stimulable phosphor sheet by use of an irradiation field stop for defining an irradiation field. The stimulable phosphor sheet is then exposed to stimulating rays which cause it to emit light in proportion to the radiation energy stored. The emitted light is photoelectrically detected, and a data processing is conducted. The data processing is conducted only on image data within the irradiation field. When preliminary read-out is conducted prior to final read-out by use of stimulating rays having stimulation energy lower than stimulation energy of stimulating rays used in the final read-out, the data processing is conducted in the preliminary read-out only on the image data within the irradiation field.

The stimulable phosphor sheet is then exposed to stimulating rays which cause it to emit light in proportion to the radiation energy stored. The emitted light is photoelectrically detected. The radiation image read-out region of the stimulable phosphor sheet is limited within the irradiation field. When preliminary read-out is conducted prior to final read-out by use of stimulating rays having stimulation energy lower than the stimulation energy of stimulating rays used in the final read-out, the radiation image read-out region in the preliminary read-out is limited within the irradiation field.

  • Patent number: 4629891
Abstract: In a radiation image read-out method and apparatus wherein preliminary read-out is conducted prior to final read-out for adjusting final read-out conditions and/or image processing conditions for a radiation image stored in a stimulable phosphor sheet, the light detection range of a light detector for detecting light emitted by the stimulable phosphor sheet upon exposure to stimulating rays in the preliminary read-out is changed in accordance with radiation image recording conditions, so that the emitted light is detected over the whole light emission intensity range fixed by the image recording conditions.

  • Patent number: 4620097
Abstract: In a radiation image recording and reproducing system, final read-out of a radiation image stored in a stimulable phosphor sheet is conducted by exposing the stimulable phosphor sheet to stimulating rays, and photoelectrically detecting light emitted by the stimulable phosphor sheet upon stimulation thereof to obtain a visible image. Prior to the final read-out, preliminary read-out is conducted for detecting the image input information by use of stimulating rays having stimulation energy lower than the stimulation energy of stimulating rays used in the final read-out. By the preliminary read-out, the minimum stimulated emission intensity among all points over the whole surface of the stimulable phosphor sheet and that among all points in one region within the radiation exposure field of the stimulable phosphor sheet at the time of the image recording are measured.
