  • Patent number: 6117521
Abstract: A plastic, lightweight formwork for concrete, which is an integrally molded article of a crosslinked polymer obtained by mixing a monomer solution A of a metathesis polymerizable cycloolefin containing a catalyst component of a metathesis polymerization catalyst system and a monomer solution B of a metathesis polymerizable cycloolefin containing an activator component of a metathesis polymerization catalyst system, injecting the mixture into a mold and subjecting the mixture to polymerization and a crosslinking reaction in the mold. (1) The formwork has a rectangular plate having a front surface and having a longitudinal length of 1,000-4,000 mm, a lateral length which is 1/2-1/10 of the longitudinal length and a thickness of 3-10 mm, and a reverse surface of the plate has a frame surrounding the plate and 3 to 6 crosspiece ribs are longitudinally formed on the reverse surface, the frame surrounding the plate having a thickness of 5 to 20 mm and a height of 40 to 100 mm.

  • Patent number: 5723568
Abstract: A polyamide comprising a solution of (i) an aliphatic polyamide and/or an aliphatic aromatic poly amide dissolved in (ii) N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and containing (iii) calcium chloride, the ratio between the polyamide (i) and the N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (ii) in the solution composition being 3 to 25% by weight of the polyamide (i)to 97 to 75% by weight of the N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, (ii) with the solution also containing calcium chloride (iii) in an amount of 5 to 60 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the polyamide (i) which can be precipitated in a precipitant consisting essentially of water while stirring the precipitant to provide fibrids, which then can be mixed with fibers or natural pulp and formed into synthetic paper.

  • Patent number: 5665295
Abstract: A process for the production of a composite molded article having two surface layer (skin) portions of a fiber-reinforced resin (FRP) and a core portion of a porous resin layer between the two surface layer portions, all of which portions are integrated. More specifically, the invention relates to a process for the production of a light-weight and tough composite article having a foamed core-sandwiched structure in which two dense surface layer (skin) portions of a fiber-reinforced resin and a core portion of a porous resin layer having numerous air foams are integrally molded such that the core portion is integrated between the above two dense surface layer portions. This process can be carried out at a low cost by a batch or continuous method.

  • Patent number: 4532275
Abstract: A fiber-reinforced composite material comprising a resin and 20 to 90% by weight, based on the composite material, of reinforcing fibers, said reinforcing fibers comprising fibers of a wholly aromatic polyamide consisting essentially of(1) structural units of the formula ##STR1## and (2) structural units of the formula ##STR2## and/or structural units of the formula ##STR3## wherein X represents a halogen atom and n is an integer of from 1 to 3.

  • Patent number: 4398995
Abstract: A papery product consisting essentially of a fibrous web, at least part of said web being made of a wholly aromatic polyamide fiber having a readily soluble skin layer and a sparingly soluble or insoluble core layer, and pressure and heat being applied to said web. Said product is excellent in its mechanical and heat-resisting properties.

  • Patent number: 4016112
Abstract: In manufacturing a foamed structure from an unsaturated polyester resin, a diallyl phthalate resin and a curable 1,2-polybutadiene resin, foaming of the resin is carried out with the reaction of acid esters of phosphoric acid and/or acid esters of phosphorous acid with metal carbonates and/or metal bicarbonates.

  • Patent number: 3991040
Abstract: New curable monomeric aromatic imidodicarboxylic acid diallyl esters, such as 4-allyloxycarbonyl-N-(allyloxycarbonylmethyl)phthalimide, 1,2-ethylene bis(4-allyloxycarbonylphthalimide), or N,N'-bis(allyloxycarbonylmethyl) pyromellitimide. When heated in the presence of a free radical initiator, these monomers give cured polymers having very superior mechanical strength, thermal stability, chemical resistance and electrical properties. If this polymerization is stopped before the reaction mixture is gelled, prepolymers can be obtained. The cured polymers are especially useful as electronics materials and engineering plastics.
