    Abstract: An injector comprises a cylindrical body portion, a holding ring capable of centering an axial center of the injector, and a small-diameter cylindrical portion. There are provided an assembly forming step of forming a fuel rail assembly by inserting the injectors into respective cup portions via spring members for reaction force absorption, a press inserting step of pressing and inserting respective tip-side portions of the injectors by pressing pressure-receiving portions such that the respective spring members are compressed up to a middle compressive state thereof with a pressing movable apparatus which is capable of pressing the pressure-receiving portions of a fuel rail via respective pressing springs, and a fastening step of fastening plural boss portions concurrently to a cylinder head in a state in which a pressing force of the press inserting step is maintained.

    Abstract: In a method of and an apparatus for assembling units, incomplete units are moved forward along an assembly line, in progression, to successive stations for the addition of components to the unit until the unit is complete. Each unit, with machined parts, is disassembled at a disassembling station, provided with components including a specific part, and provisionally assembled as a whole at an assembling station. After the provisionally assembled units have been inspected as to a positional relationship of the components relative to one another, they are incorporated into a row of incomplete units so that one provisionally assembled unit is located after every incomplete unit and are disassembled at the disassembling station and, thereafter, reassembled again. During the second assemblage, the specific part is replaced with another specific part according to a result of the inspection so as to provide a predetermined positional relationship among the components, thereby completing the unit.

    Abstract: In a method of producing crankshafts in a mass-production line, after a crankshaft casting is ground to its specified geometry, it is measured to detect a dynamic imbalance. Then, at least one radial balancing bore is drilled in a specified counterweight to a depth according to a resultant imbalance so as to balance the crankshaft if the crankshaft is judged, based on the resultant imbalance, to fall within a region in which a dynamic imbalance is eliminated by drilling bores. Otherwise, the crank shaft is removed out of the mass-production line if it is judged to be out of the region.
