  • Patent number: 4981804
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining, by use of ion chromatography, a microconstituent contained in a major constituent as impurities present in the major constituent. The invention causes only that portion of the effluent from the detector, shown on an ion chromatograph, that corresponds to the neighborhood of the microconstituent to be led again to the collecting valve. Thus, the microconstituent of the solution can be determined quickly and easily, without reference to the kind of microconstituent being tested.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 14, 1990
Date of Patent: January 1, 1991
    Assignee: Yokogawa Electric Corporation
Inventors: Yuzuru Hanaoka, Takeshi Murayama, Tamizo Matsuura

  • Patent number: 4584276
Abstract: Method and apparatus for analysis, by ion chromatography, of anions, in a sample solution, wherein accurate analysis of anions in the sample solution is obtained by passing carbonic acid, through a prescribed membrane, into the sample solution, thereby completely eliminating or sharply lessening the so-called water dip effect. The method and apparatus are further directed to enabling anions in the sample solution to be accurately analyzed by passing prescribed cations, through a prescribed membrane, into the sample solution, thereby depriving the sample solution of interfering anions otherwise abundantly present therein.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 15, 1985
Date of Patent: April 22, 1986
    Assignee: Yokogawa Hokushin Electric Corporation
Inventors: Yuzuru Hanaoka, Takeshi Murayama, Setsuo Muramoto, Tamizo Matsuura

  • Patent number: 4447559
Abstract: An ion exchanger comprising a carrier comprising a synthetic resin having no ion exchange group and having one or more particles of a predetermined size, and a plurality of ion exchange particles disposed on the surface of the carrier and bonded thereto by a binder, wherein the plurality of ion exchange particles are of sizes smaller than the sizes of the carrier particles, and wherein the binder is of a synthetic resin having the same or similar composition as that of the carrier. The ion exchanger is useable in ion chromatography systems.

  • Patent number: 4403039
Abstract: A method of analyzing a sample solution containing an ionic species of interest paired with an ionic species of the opposite sign comprises introducing the sample solution into a separation column with an eluant solution, introducing an eluate from the separation column into the inner passage of a diffusion type deionizer of the double tubular construction which is defined by a tube of an ion exchange composition, while a scavenger solution is introduced into the outer passage of the deionizer in a direction of flow opposite to that of the eluate in the inner passage, whereby the ionic species of the opposite sign is removed from the eluate into the scavenger solution, and measuring the electric conductivity of the eluate from the deionizer to thereby determine the concentration of the ionic species of interest in the sample solution. An apparatus for carrying out this method is also disclosed.
