  • Patent number: 7912010
Abstract: A control unit of a wireless connection terminal compares the received signal strength indicator of an access point currently connected to by the wireless connection terminal with the received signal strength indicator of a neighboring access point. If the difference between the two received signal strength indicators is higher than or equal to 40%, the connection to the current access point is severed and roaming in which the connection is switched to the neighboring access point is performed. Even when the difference between the two received signal strength indicators is not higher than or equal to 40%, roaming in which the connection is switched to the neighboring access point is performed if the received signal strength indicator of the access point to which the wireless connection terminal is currently connected becomes lower than or equal to 20%.

  • Publication number: 20050281234
Abstract: A communication terminal device includes a wireless LAN module configured to search a plurality of communication channels by channel scanning in order to find a communication channel available for communication and configured to perform wireless communication using the found communication channel through a wireless LAN. In a search process by channel scanning for searching for the communication channel available for communication, if the communication channel available for communication is not found within a predetermined time period from the beginning of the search process, the wireless LAN module stops the search process, and an operation mode of the wireless LAN module is shifted from a normal operation mode to a power-saving mode.

  • Publication number: 20040264426
Abstract: A method for accessing an access point (AP) in a wireless LAN and a station are provided that allow users to determine the current country mode and more conveniently and faster perform access to the AP when access to the AP occurs through worldwide roaming. The method extracts country information from a beacon which is received from the access point when access to the access point occurs and displays the country name of the extracted country and a map including the country on a display device. The method manages multiple profiles by grouping into multiple profile groups for each country and tries to access sequentially and automatically all access points which are set in the multiple profiles included in the profile groups of the country. Therefore, if a response from the AP is received, users can receive various services by communication through the AP.
