  • Publication number: 20220340182
Abstract: A plurality of simulations executed by a plurality of simulators, respectively, coupled to one another to perform communication are executed efficiently and fast as a whole when executed in cooperation. An information processing system stores execution order information that is information indicating execution orders of the plurality of simulations. Each of the simulators generates output data by executing a corresponding one of the simulations based on input data that is data input at execution start, and execution control of the other simulations is performed when the simulation has reached a check point at a time point halfway through execution of the simulation. The check point is set based on, for example, a viewpoint of time or a viewpoint of situation of the simulation.

  • Publication number: 20080301777
Abstract: A server system has servers that can be operated through switching as a primary system and a standby system, and a shared disk unit for storing data accessed by the servers. Each of the servers has a driver that acquires information on a configuration inside the shared disk unit after starting of the system. The driver sets the shared disk unit in an active state in which an access request can be sent to the shared disk unit. Access control determines whether the access request issued by an application should be sent on the basis of a management table indicating inhibited types of access requests for each access destination. The access control sends the access request to the driver when the access request is not inhibited for an access destination of the access request. By this arrangement, hot standby switching processing can be performed at high speed.

  • Publication number: 20080288812
Abstract: A cluster system including: a transmission side server cluster consisting of a plurality of computers; a receiving side server cluster consisting of a plurality of computers; and a network that interconnects both the transmission side server cluster and the receiving side server cluster, wherein an active-transmission computer which is included in the transmission side server cluster selects a standby-transmission computer from the computers in the transmission side server cluster, based on load information, and transmits a backup-copy of a message to the standby-transmission computer when the active-transmission computer transmits the message to a computer in the receiving side server, the stand-by transmission computer for back-up handling of the message in the event of occurrence of a fault in the active-transmission computer.

  • Patent number: 7418624
Abstract: Consistency of a shared disk is secured in system switching in a hot standby system. In the standby system in which an active computer and standby computer share the shared disk, when a write I/O request is issued from the active computer, information about a start of the I/O is recorded in, for example, a memory. When the I/O is completed, the information is deleted from the memory. When a failure occurs in the active computer, the active computer transmits the record of the information about the start of the I/O, to the standby computer. The standby computer verifies the record to recover a disk in which the I/O is to be executed.

  • Publication number: 20060288159
Abstract: A method of controlling cache allocation to be executed by a server computer is arranged to realize resource management for securing a proper cache size. The server computer is arranged to have a memory unit and a CPU. The memory unit stores a memory allowable size of a memory to be secured as a disk cache by each of the programs to be executed by the server computer. In a case that a new disk cache is allocated to the memory unit when accessing a disk drive under the control of the program being executed, the CPU reads from the memory the memory allowable size corresponding with the program and allocates the disk cache to the memory unit so that the disk cache may stay in the range of the memory allowable size.

  • Publication number: 20060067335
Abstract: Provided is a method of managing a network system including a computer device which processes data, a storage system which is used in the computer device to store data, and a switch which connects the computer device and the storage system to each other. The storage system sets VLANs and the priority of each of the VLANs on the switch, VLANs including at least one of a control VLAN transferring mainly control data, and at least one of a user VLAN transferring data other than the control data. The switch transfers data in a manner that allows the VLANs of higher priority to precede the VLANs of lower priority. Therefore the storage system manages a network in accordance with the level of load or the like of respective VLANs.

  • Publication number: 20050089063
Abstract: A computer system includes servers that receive messages sent from respective terminals, perform handlings associated with the received messages, and reallocate resources along with a variation in load deriving from the reception of the messages. The computer system comprises: an input counting unit that classifies the messages received from the respective terminals on the basis of an input classification table, and transmits messages, which are classified into each category, as time-sequential input information; and a resource control unit that predicts a minimum usage of each resource on the basis of the time-sequential input information, time-sequential load information representing a change in load on each resource, and load prediction rules in which a predicted value of a variation in load occurring in a server in a predetermined time due to the reception of messages is recorded.

  • Patent number: 6144995
Abstract: A data transfer method for a computer system in which a computer is logically divided into a plurality of logical processing units and a logical coupling unit. A correspondence between a start of physical addresses of a memory of each logical processing units in a memory of the computer is stored in advance. If a first logical processing unit issues a write command to the logical coupling unit by designating a logical address of data, the logical coupling unit stores an identifier and the logical address of the first logical processing unit. If a second logical processing unit issues a read command of the data, a physical address of data storage corresponding to the logical address of the first logical processing unit is calculated in accordance with the identifier and the logical address of the first logical processing unit and the address correspondence. The data is read by using the calculated physical address.

  • Patent number: 6105098
Abstract: An enqueue structure type is provided within a coupling facility to record the use state and to manage a request queue of resources shared among programs on computers of a system. All programs to use a shared resource issue a request to reserve the shared resource to the coupling facility before using it. The coupling facility affords the permission to use the resource to the programs if it is usable, and adds the programs to the resource request queue if unusable. When a program using the shared resource frees it, the coupling facility fetches a program from the beginning of the request queue, reserves the shared resource for the next program and notifies the next program that the use of the shared resource has been approved. On receiving the notification, the program uses the shared resource without asking the coupling facility for the approval of the use of the shared resource again.

  • Patent number: 5845328
Abstract: A command is issued from a processing unit to an on-line storage unit and transferred from the on-line storage unit to a back-up storage unit. The received commands are processed in the respective storage units. An overhead of the on-line storage unit is reduced in a hot stand-by system. Storage contents of the on-line storage unit and the back-up storage unit are made coincident in a structure having a plurality of processing units, where the on-line storage unit and the back-up storage unit are connected through a channel device.
