  • Patent number: 10044462
Abstract: An exemplary apparatus is provided for an optical node of an optical ring network. The optical node comprises a main branch with a wavelength blocker configured to block at least one wavelength of signals targeted to a particular node and to permit the signals received on the other wavelength channels pass, a reception unit tuned to the at least one wavelength dedicated to signals targeted to the particular node, a first optical coupler configured to transmit the signals received from a previous node of the optical ring network both to the main branch and to the reception unit, a transmission unit configured to transmit signals to a wavelength channel according to their targeted node, and a second optical coupler configured to receive the signals received from the main branch and from the transmission unit and to transmit the received signals toward a next node of the optical ring network.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 7, 2018
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
Inventors: Guilhem De Valicourt, Yvan Pointurier
  • Patent number: 9509408
Abstract: A data transmission system (200) comprises: a main optical packet ring (201) comprising a plurality of separate packet transmission channels; and a plurality of secondary optical packet rings (202) interconnected through the main optical packet ring. Each of the secondary optical packet rings (202) comprises a plurality of nodes (400). Each of said packet transmission channels of the main optical packet ring (201) is connected to a different node of each secondary optical packet ring (202), respectively.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 2013
Date of Patent: November 29, 2016
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
    Inventors: Christian Simonneau, Yvan Pointurier

  • Patent number: 9331783
Abstract: A method and device for compensating, within a node of an optical network, chromatic dispersion undergone by optical packets transmitted within time slots of wavelength division multiplexed channels along at least one link of the optical network, a time slot duration corresponding to the sum of a packet duration and an inter-packet gap duration. The method and device demultiplexes the wavelength division multiplexed channels into a plurality of bands, and transmits the bands, via a respective plurality of delay lines having predetermined delays, toward a respective plurality of packet add/drop structures comprising a coherent receiver.

  • Patent number: 9148246
Abstract: In order to reduce power consumption in network equipment for optical transmission networks, it is proposed by reducing E/O conversion and signal processing in optical networks when not needed. A network node has two or more line cards. Each line card contains a receive side transponder section with a network side optical receiver, a first electrical section, and a client side optical transmitter and a transmit side transponder section with a network side optical transmitter, a second electrical section, and a client side optical receiver. The first electrical section has at least one intermediate electrical output the second electrical section has at least one intermediate electrical input. The intermediate electrical outputs and inputs lead to an electrical switch matrix, which controllably interconnects the intermediate electrical outputs and inputs.
