Patent number: 9940515Abstract: A method of authenticating a product by taking an image of the product and comparing the image with a reference image of a genuine product taken previously to determine if the products in the two images are the same. The two images are captured under substantially similar conditions so that the two images are as similar as possible prior to the comparison. The two images are processed in order to calculate for each of them a list of significant points. The significant points are compared to determine a degree of correspondence between the significant points. An answer is output indicating the authenticity of the product based on the degree of correspondence. Some of the matching significant points may be used to define a common coordinate system for the two images. The two lists of significant points may be compared in this common coordinate system.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2014Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: SICPA Holding SAInventors: Andrea Callegari, Huu Duc Christophe Pham, Yves Berthier, Gatien Chevallier, Eric Estermann, Aamir Qayoom, Mathieu Gillieron, Yves Brodard

Patent number: 9465367Abstract: Method for authenticating a timepiece including applying at least one external excitation to said timepiece using an external device, measuring acoustic vibrations at least one of emitted and absorbed inside the timepiece to obtain an electrical signal representative of the measured acoustic vibrations, wherein a magnitude of the electrical signal represents magnitude information of the measured acoustic vibrations as a function of time, comparing the magnitude information with at least one reference magnitude information, and determining an authenticity of the timepiece based on the comparing.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2013Date of Patent: October 11, 2016Assignee: SICPA HOLDING SAInventors: Eric Decoux, Lorenzo Sirigu, Andrea Callegari, Yves Berthier

Patent number: 9367710Abstract: A method and system for creating and storing an identifier for a timepiece having at least one gemstone. The method includes determining one or more characteristics of the at least one gemstone and detecting a relative position of the at least one gemstone in the timepiece. The method further includes creating the identifier for the timepiece in dependence upon at least one of the one or more characteristics of the at least one gemstone and the respective relative position of the at least one gemstone and storing the identifier in a database or device.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2013Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: SICPA HOLDING SAInventors: Andrea Callegari, Lorenzo Sirigu, Christine Reinhard, Eric Decoux, Thierry Mauron, Yves Berthier

Patent number: 9285777Abstract: Embodiments relate to method for authenticating timepiece comprising measuring acoustic vibrations emitted by timepiece to obtain electrical signal, which indicates variation of magnitude of measured acoustic vibrations as function of time. The method includes processing electrical signal to attenuate plurality of acoustic events in said electrical signal, performing transform of processed electrical signal into a frequency domain to obtain frequency-domain power spectrum indicating variation of power of processed electrical signal as a function of frequency, identifying at least one narrow peak in frequency-domain power spectrum corresponding to at least one resonance frequency of a part of timepiece resonating in a quiet zone.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2013Date of Patent: March 15, 2016Assignee: SICPA HOLDING SAInventors: Eric Decoux, Andrea Callegari, Yves Berthier

Publication number: 20150309478Abstract: A method of authenticating a timepiece, such as a watch, comprising at least two procedures. A procedure may comprise analysing vibrations of the timepiece. A procedure may comprise analysing characteristics of a gemstone or gemstones of the timepiece. A procedure may comprise comparing measured or detected characteristics with reference information for the timepiece, and authenticating the timepiece based on the results of the comparison.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2013Publication date: October 29, 2015Applicant: SICPA HOLDING SAInventors: Eric DECOUX, Lorenzo SIRIGU, Andrea CALLEGARI, Yves BERTHIER
