  • Patent number: 7018338
Abstract: Portable pulse rate detecting device for contact with human body tissue, including a light-emitting source for emitting radiant energy directed at through human body tissue; at least first and second light detectors for detecting intensity of radiant energy after propagation through human body tissue and for providing first and second input signals as a function of such propagation, a detecting device for providing a motion reference signal, and processing means for removing motion-related contributions from the first and second input signals and subtracting a calculated model based on the motion reference signal from each of the first and second input signals, wherein the processing means is also for removing measurement noise and residual non-modeled contributions from the first and second enhanced signals using a noise reduction algorithm.

  • Patent number: 6625518
Abstract: A support procedure for administering prescription drugs which does not require patient action while avoiding erroneous patient manipulation in order to carry out error-free home treatment, wherein the procedure includes the following steps: STEP 1 prior preparation of one or more drug doses, programming and storing identifying parameters in a computer (1), STEP 2 individual insertion of each dose in a pack (2) which is subsequently sealed, and entering the parameters on an arbitrary storage substrate (3) applied to the pack (2), STEP III: integrating the pack into a dispenser (4) of which the operation is programmable and which includes a means for reading the parameters.

  • Publication number: 20030065269
Abstract: There is described a device and a method for detecting the pulse rate. The measuring principle consists of emitting radiant energy at the surface of or through human body tissue (5) by means of a light-emitting source (10), measuring the intensity of the radiant energy after propagation through the human body tissue by means of at least first and second light detectors (21, 22, 23, 24) located at a determined distance from the light-emitting source and providing first and second input signals (y1(t), y2(t)) representative of this propagation. Simultaneously, a motion detecting device (40), such as a three dimensional accelerometers, provides a motion reference signal (ax(t), ay(t), az(t)) representative of motion of the detecting device on and with respect to the human body tissue (5). The input signals are then processed in order to remove motion-related contributions due to motion of the detecting device (1) on and with respect to the human body tissue (5) and to produce first and second enhanced signals.

  • Patent number: 6431622
Abstract: An object manipulator robot device includes a pick-up member made from a thermally conductive material and having at least one surface of contact with the object to be picked up, a system for cooling the pick-up member to freeze the interface between the member and the object, thereby fastening them together, including a local system for cooling the pick-up member directly and a peripheral system for cooling the local system, a system for heating the member to liquefy the interface, thereby releasing the object, and a control system for the cooling and heating systems. The local cooling system includes a pair of local cooling elements mounted on respective opposite sides of the pick-up member and the peripheral cooling system includes a pair of peripheral cooling elements connected to the local cooling elements by arms made from a material of high thermal conductivity, such as copper.

  • Patent number: 6201476
Abstract: A device for monitoring the activity of a person and/or detecting a fall suffered by a person with a view in particular to summoning help in the event of an incident hazardous to life or limb is worn by the person concerned and transmits a danger signal to a remote monitoring center. The device generates acceleration, speed and/or position signals representative of the behavior and/or the spatial attitude of the person. It establishes a probability factor representative of the probability that a dangerous situation is present from how the acceleration, speed and position signals change with time. It triggers in accordance with the value of the probability factor an alarm generator capable of causing the danger signal to be transmitted to the center.
