  • Publication number: 20030206204
Abstract: The navigation within a set of multimedia documents is possible with the aid of a user interface: the navigator. A current document is firstly activated. Next, a descriptive data item indicative of this document is demarcated. When the user activates this descriptive data item, the navigator displays a new document. This new document possesses in common at least the same descriptive data item as that activated by the user. The invention also relates to a device able to execute a software navigation module, the said module making it possible to determine a document comprising at least the descriptive data item activated by the user. The invention also relates to a graphical interface making it possible to view multimedia documents.

  • Patent number: 5956097
Abstract: A video receiving device (A) that includes a circuit for receiving first video signals from a remote transmitter, a circuit for receiving second video signals from another video receiver (TVS), a circuit (TU1) for automatic searching for transmission channels, and a circuit (PC) for phase comparison between the vertical synchronization signals of the first video signals and the vertical synchronization signals of the second video signals that can output an "outphasing" signal that is used for controlling the operation of the automatic channel search circuit, wherein the video receiving device (A) also includes a control circuit (CC) that enables the video signals that it is receiving to be displayed for a pre-determined time on the other video receiver (TVS). The invention is applicable notably to the programming of video recorders, and to the automatic tuning of such a recorder to the channel being viewed on a TV receiver in order to enable simple and immediate recording of this channel.

  • Patent number: 5877822
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and a circuit for storage of digital tuning data and parameters for a number of television channels in a rewritable memory. The channel search is initialized by pressing a single button to initialize a scan of the reception frequency band. The scanning of the frequency range is interrupted for a preset time-out period .DELTA.t each time a stop-scan signal is generated and resumes automatically until the entire range has been scanned. After each stop-scan pulse, if the single button is pressed during a time-out period, At, the system begins toggling through the possible values of each parameter relating to the station, the current value of the parameter being memorized when the single button is pressed again. The invention also includes a television and video cassette recorder implementing the above method.

  • Patent number: 5870380
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of reception of signals from at least two transmitters (RCi), wherein for each transmitter the data ("0", "1") are represented by the time interval (T0i, T1i) between two consecutive pulses transmitted by this transmitter, said time intervals and the pulse widths (Tpi) being characteristic of each transmitter, and wherein said method includes the following steps: reception of a resultant signal that is the sum of the signals from by said transmitters; determination of the parameters of said resultant signal, these parameters including the width and spacing of the pulses; analysis of said parameters and assignment of a data item to one of said transmitters. The invention also concerns a receiver device, a remote controller, and a system of reception. The invention is applicable notably in the field of television and video.

  • Patent number: 5822014
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for selecting programs in a digital video reception system adapted to receive digital data streams. The method comprises the steps of receiving information corresponding to program identification elements; displaying the identification elements in the form of a mosaic of elements (10) on a screen of the reception system, where the arranging of identification elements (10) in the mosaic is performed before transmission; receiving information describing the location of each program thus identified in a data stream broadcast by a transmitter (15); and selecting one of the programs by selecting at least one identifier clement. A device for selecting programs in a digital video reception system is also disclosed.
