  • Patent number: 4851141
Abstract: Hexylene glycol alone or in combination with a lower alkanol or another glycol or glycol ether, or mixtures thereof provide a non-aqueous liquid carrier for cationic fabric softeners, especially the quaternary ammonium and imidazolinium cationic compounds, for preparing stable concentrated fabric softener compositions. The compositions may contain up to 60% by weight of the cationic compound and may additionally include up to 15% by weight of a nonionic surfactant. The concentrated compositions disperse easily in cold water and are easily dispensed from automatic dispensers.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 25, 1989
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
Inventors: Yvon Demangeon, Michel Julemont, Marie-Helene Fraikin
  • Patent number: 4556509
Abstract: The improvement in a light duty detergent composition containing anionic sulfonated surfactants or mixtures of anionic sulfonate and nonionic surfactants is disclosed which comprises the inclusion therein of an effective amount of a low molecular weight organic diamine diacid salt selected from the range wherein the mole ratio of mono-anionic detergent to organic diamine diacid salt is from 0.8:1 to 9:1 and sufficient to improve soft water foaming and degreasing properties. These compositions are especially suitable for dishwashing.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 3, 1985
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
    Inventors: Yvon Demangeon, Alain Jacques
  • Patent number: 4486329
Abstract: A clear, single phase, liquid cleaning composition particularly suitable for cleaning hard surfaces which leaves a low residue on unrinsed, cleaned surfaces consisting essentially of, by weight, 2-8% of an amine salt of an anionic sulfated or sulfonated detergent containing an alkyl radical of 8 to 22 carbon atoms in the molecule, 1-4% of water-soluble, ethyleneoxylated nonionic detergent, 2-15% of an amine salt of C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 monocarboxylic acid builder, 0.1%-4% of amine, 0-2% of an amine salt of a C.sub.8 -C.sub.18 carboxylic acid, 0-8% of urea and water, the weight ratio of builder to total detergent being in the range of 1:6 to 5:1 and said amine being selected from the group consisting of mono-, di- and tri-ethanol amine and etheylene diamine. Preferred compositions contain either the diethanolamine salts or the 2-aminoethylammonium salts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 17, 1983
Date of Patent: December 4, 1984
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company

  • Patent number: 3991000
Abstract: A bleaching detergent composition, in which the bleaching component is a water soluble inorganic percompound, such as sodium perborate, includes an alkali metal builder salt, such as pentasodium tripolyphosphate, a water soluble organic builder salt, such as trisodium nitrilotriacetate and an organic detergent, such as sodium linear higher alkyl benzene sulfonate, and is improved in bleaching effectiveness by inclusion therein of a particular concentration of a water soluble copper salt, such as copper sulfate hydrate, which results in the presence of a particular desirable proportion of copper ions in the bleaching detergent solution resulting from normal use of the composition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 1, 1974
Date of Patent: November 9, 1976
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
Inventors: Georges Jean Paul Chazard, Yvon Demangeon
