  • Patent number: 6810951
Abstract: The invention concerns a tube (1) internally divided into two longitudinal channels (16) by a median spacer (9). In an end zone (4) penetrating a fluid box (19), the tube is deformed so as to be widened in its transverse section and shortened on either side of the spacer in the direction thereof. The space requirement of the fluid box in the longitudinal direction of the transverse sections of the tubes, and consequently the space requirement of the whole heat exchanger, can thereby be reduced relatively to the maximum space requirement of the array formed by the tubes and the separators (5) stacked therewith. The invention is applicable to cooling radiators of engines powering motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6129147
Abstract: A folded and brazed tube consists of at least one metal band folded over itself to form two parallel channels separated by a cross-piece. The cross-piece is formed by at least one margin of the band, which is locally folded from the tube surface towards its interior. At least one sheet is pressed against the outside of the cross-piece and has an edge flush with the surface of the tube in order to delimit a volume formed in the folding region of the margin which must be filled in during brazing. Applications include the manufacture of vehicle engine cooling radiators.

  • Patent number: 5791402
Abstract: A brazed engine cooling radiator for a motor vehicle comprises a row of flat tubes arranged in a bundle alternately with cooling fins, with a structural member extending along one end of the bundle. A support member, for carrying an accessory, is in the form of a saddle which straddles the structural member. The back portion of the saddle has press formed tongues which co-operate with ribs of the structural member so as to guide the support member longitudinally. The side edges of the support member have teeth which are upset under the structural member so as to immobilise the latter. The teeth deform portions of the endmost cooling fin that lies between the base of the structural member and the adjacent tube. This support member is less costly to make and fit. It is fitted by seaming after the radiator has been brazed.
