The body defines a water passageway between an inlet and an outlet thereof. A chamber is in fluid communication with the water passageway and configured for reception of dechlorinating material therein, such as chlorine neutralizing tablets, whereby water from the fire hydrant passes from the water passageway and over the dechlorinating material in the chamber so as to neutralize chlorine in the water before it is discharged from the unit.
