Patent number: 12273009Abstract: A fluid jacket is disclosed herein that generally includes an enclosure component and a stator carrier to define a fluid pocket. Indentations, embossments, or other features can be defined on one of the enclosure component or the stator carrier to provide a more turbulent flow within the fluid pocket. The enclosure component and stator carrier can be laser welded to each other. A constriction can also be defined within the fluid pocket, which can be formed via a relative flattening to straight portion of the enclosure component or the stator carrier. This constriction can effectively restrict the flow of fluid within the fluid pocket, thereby ensuring that fluid is directed circumferentially around the fluid pocket.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2022Date of Patent: April 8, 2025Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KGInventor: Zachary Gnabah

Publication number: 20250015655Abstract: A drive unit includes a stator assembly with a stator assembly core having a plurality of teeth that extend from a first end to a second end of the stator assembly core. The teeth have first, second, and third axial extents. The radially inboardmost portions of the first and second axial extents are radially inboard of the radially inboardmost portions of the third axial extent. The drive unit also includes a rotor assembly with first and second rotor bodies, a rotor mid plate, first and second rotor end plates, and a rotor shaft. The rotor assembly defines a portion of a fluid flow path of the drive unit including an interior hollow defined by the rotor shaft and a fluid passage defined by the rotor mid plate. Fluid is conveyed along the portion of the fluid flow path from the interior hollow to the fluid passage to the third axial extent.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 5, 2023Publication date: January 9, 2025Applicant: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. Publication number: 20240339889Abstract: A junction box assembly including a housing having an opening for accessing an interior of the housing, a high-voltage connector adjacent the opening, and an access panel mounted to the housing. The access panel is movable between a first position and a second position, the first position restricting access to the opening of the housing and permitting a cooperating high-voltage connector to engage the high-voltage connector adjacent the opening and the second position permitting access to the opening of the housing and restricting a cooperating high-voltage connecter from engaging the high-voltage connector adjacent the opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 5, 2023Publication date: October 10, 2024Applicant: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KGInventors: Paul Lindemann, Zachary Gnabah, Jonathan Getz

Patent number: 11942848Abstract: A busbar assembly is disclosed that includes a carrier, and a plurality of conductors arranged within the carrier such that at least a portion of each of the plurality of conductors are exposed in a radial direction and define electrical contact sites. The carrier can be formed by molding the carrier about the plurality of conductors.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2021Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KGInventors: Zachary Gnabah, Michael Conner, Jeremy Vanni

Patent number: 11888257Abstract: A busbar assembly is disclosed herein. The assembly includes a ring body having a plurality of openings extending in an axial direction and configured to receive electrical wire connections, and a plurality of phase conductors. A high-voltage connection portion is also included in this same body. The high-voltage connection portion includes a plurality of high voltage conductors each configured to engage a respective one of the plurality of phase conductors. A plurality of connectors are each attached to a respective one of the plurality of high voltage conductors. A seal is arranged on a periphery of the high-voltage connection portion to incorporate the busbar into one combined simple design.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2021Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. Publication number: 20230223809Abstract: An apparatus and methods are provided for a segmented stator comprising over-molded windings and an incorporated bus bar for a multi-phase electric motor. The segmented stator comprises a plurality of stator segments that are arranged into a circular configuration. Each stator segment comprises a divided core that includes a core back portion and a core tooth portion. An insulator is disposed on at least the core tooth portion, and a winding of magnet wire is disposed on the insulator. An over-molded encapsulation is applied to fixate the divided core and the winding. A bus bar is incorporated into the stator segments and placed into electrical communication with the windings. The bus bar includes annular conductors that may be over-molded such that the bus bar is encapsulated within the segmented stator. Connectors coupled with the bus bar are configured for passing an electric current to the stator segments.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2022Publication date: July 13, 2023Applicant: SCHAEFFLER TECHNOLOGIES AG & CO.
