The social networking system in turn incorporates the posting of the followed user on the third-party application into a user interface that it displays to the following user.

For example, the interface element is displayed in a story describing content from the third-party system. The interface element is associated with an action performed on the third-party system, so when a user accesses the interface element a request to perform the action is sent from the social networking system to the third-party system. When the third-party system performs the action, a description of the action is sent back to the social networking system, which may present a confirmation of the action to the user. For example, the appearance of the interface element is modified to indicate that the action was performed.
