  • Patent number: 12121373
Abstract: Surgical trays, tools and methods for use in hip replacement surgery wherein the hip replacement prosthesis is a reverse hip prosthesis. The trial components, specialized tools and methods of the invention enable a surgeon to identify the optimum components of the reverse hip prosthesis for implantation in a patient based on the sizes and angles best adapted to the patent's anatomy.

  • Patent number: 11951022
Abstract: Surgical tools which are used to separate from one another a femoral cup and an acetabular ball in an implanted hip replacement prosthesis. At its distal end, elements of the surgical tool engage the femoral cup and the acetabular cup. When proximal handles of the tool are squeezed toward one another, the engagement elements move away from one another. Thus, a surgeon is able to separate the femoral cup and the acetabular ball from one another without pulling the acetabular cup away from the acetabulum or the femoral cup and/or femoral implant away from the femur, thereby accomplishing the separation without disrupting any bone ingrowth.

  • Publication number: 20240108476
Abstract: In interlocking reverse hip prosthesis including an acetabular cup having an opening in the central portion of the cup having implanted in the acetabular cavity. The opening has a circular extending wall protruding into the concave portion of the cup at a distance at least equal to the diameter of the opening. The inward extension of the cup provides a female Morse taper suited for receiving the mail Morse taper post of the acetabular ball. After implantation of the acetabular cup, the surgeon can easily secure the cup to the acetabular bone using several screws without the interference of the central peg (as in prior implants). The femoral ball is then attached to the cup via central Morse taper.

  • Patent number: 11839389
Abstract: A novel method and instrumentation for insertion of humeral and glenoid total shoulder implant using arthroscopic visualization for bony preparation as well as insertion of components through small incisions. Mini instruments and cannulated guides and reamers are used in order to perform the procedure under direct arthroscopic visualization. For ease of insertion, the components are inserted separately and assembled in situ. Securing the humeral components in place is accomplished with bicortical screw transfixing the central peg of component. Also disclosed are components, parts thereof and instruments used therewith.

  • Patent number: 11754362
Abstract: A device for reducing a recoil force generated by firing of a firearm. The device comprises elongated chamber in the form of an outer cylinder concealed in the forend of a long firearm and having a communicating port with the barrel of the gun situated a short distance beyond the tip of the bullet. The outer cylinder comprising a lead filled cylinder sliding freely back and forth into the elongated chamber. Upon firing the gun, a portion of the explosion gases will penetrate through the communicating Port into the recoil reducing cylinder and forcefully push the lead field cylinder forward against the distal bumper therefore pulling the gun forward and dampening the recoil force. After firing a spring situated distal to the lead cylinder pushes the cylinder backward to its initial position.

  • Patent number: 11141279
Abstract: Disclosed is a reconfigurable hip joint prosthesis and elements therefor which is adapted to be surgically implantable in a human body, a part in the upper femur, another part in the pelvis. The implantable prosthesis may be configured in a reversible manner, and provide alternative configurations as may be desired or necessary. The present invention also includes a method of implanting into a human body a prosthesis as described herein, and subsequently reconfiguring the prosthesis as may be desired or necessary. A still further aspect of the invention is a kit of component parts used in providing a configured implantable prosthesis.

  • Patent number: 11103365
Abstract: Surgical trays and tools for use in hip revision surgery wherein the implanted prosthesis is a reverse prosthesis comprising an acetabular ball and a femoral cup. A set of trays is provided having tools for i) separating a femoral cup from an acetabular ball, ii) separating a femoral cup from a femoral implant and iii) separating an acetabular ball from an acetabular cup. A tool for removing an acetabular cup from an acetabulum is also described. A surgical method is also provided wherein the acetabular ball and femoral cup are separated first followed by, in any order, separating the femoral cup from the femoral implant and separating the acetabular ball from the acetabular cup.

  • Patent number: 11096790
Abstract: A bicondylar knee implants with improved fixation means for resurfacing only the weight-bearing surface of the femoral medial and lateral condyles, while preserving the cruciate ligaments and avoids displacing the patella. The inventive device includes metallic convex articular surfaces for resurfacing the medial and lateral femoral condyles, and concave multifacial non-articular surfaces to be affixed to the resected distal surfaces of the femur. The prosthesis provides claws situated at the anterior and posterior ends of the medial and lateral metallic condyles, which will firmly attach the implant against the resected femoral condyle. The prosthesis is designed to be implanted through a direct lateral approach and does not resurface the femoropatellar joint. Furthermore, a minirobot or electromechanical actuator is used to perform the femoral and tibial bone cuts using electromagnetic bone chipper.

  • Patent number: 11020243
Abstract: A surgical tool for extracting an acetabular ball from an acetabular cup in an implanted hip prosthesis wherein the from acetabular ball is affixed by means of a Morse taper to a stem extending from bottom of the concave portion of the acetabular cup. The surgical tool enables a surgeon to remove the ball without pulling on the acetabular cup and without disrupting any bone ingrowth because the tool maintains pressure on the cup while exerting an opposing pressure pulling on the ball.

  • Patent number: 10941999
Abstract: A recoil reducer device for use with a firearm is provided comprising a heavy weighted doughnut situated in a cylinder which is screwed onto the muzzle of the barrel. The exhaust gases as they exit the muzzle will enter the base of the cylinder through side portals and forcefully push the doughnut forward striking the base plate of the cylinder thereby pushing the recoil reducer device forward considerably reducing the recoil force generated by the fired bullet. A spring inside the cylinder will push back the weighted doughnut to its original position.

  • Patent number: 10912698
Abstract: A surgical table attachment for providing hyperextension of the hip joint during direct anterior approach without need for lowering the distal end of the operating table. The attachment will allow external rotation as well as adduction for better exposure of the proximal end of the femur. It further allows for motorized traction of the lower extremity controlled by the operating surgeon. The inventive device conveniently incorporates a femoral elevator mechanism that will raise the proximal end of the femoral bone for better visualization through the wound and easier reduction of the implant. The device is easily used with any conventional surgical table and can made from radiolucent material allowing intraoperative X-ray control.
