Abstract: An amplifier module for radio frequency signal circuits includes an electrically conductive housing. Two coax connectors are electrically linked to an amplifier circuit contained within the module. A separate transformer is external to the module. Both the module and the external transformer are mountable to a chassis frame. Other modules are usable in the system in addition to the amplifier module. The transformer can be wall mounted to the chassis frame, or the transformer can be internal to a module which also mounts to the chassis frame.

Abstract: An amplifier switch controller is provided for use in a headend cable transmission system having first and second amplifiers and amplifier input and output paths connected to one of the first and second amplifiers, which becomes the currently activated amplifier. The amplifier switch controller comprises an input sampler for sampling a combined signal on the input signal path and measuring an input signal level. The amplifier switch controller also comprises an output sampler for sampling the amplified combined signal on the output signal path and measuring an output signal level. A program means receives the input and output signal levels and determines whether the currently activated amplifier is not functioning properly. If it is not functioning properly, the program means generates a control signal to a switch.

Abstract: An electrical connector is disclosed having a housing extending from a first connection end to a second connection end. The first connection end is connectable to a BNC connector. The second connection end includes an RJ jack for receiving an RJ twisted pair plug. Internal circuitry is provided for connecting the coax connector end to the RJ connector end while providing desired impedance matching.

Abstract: A device for transporting fiber, wires or cables from the rear of a chassis to the front includes an armature member mounted to pivot in a plane parallel to the top of the housing. The armature is pivotable between a first position in which a first end is proximate an aperture in the rear of the housing and a second position in which the end of said first arm proximate the front of the chassis. A second arm is provided to actuate the armature, with the second arm being accessible from the front of said chassis when said armature is in the first position. A signal carrying medium may thus be connected to the end of first arm and readily transported through to the front of the chassis.
