  • Patent number: 11536152
Abstract: A valve assembly for an active clearance control (ACC) system in a gas turbine engine. The assembly comprises a first valve disc positioned within a first outlet duct, a second valve disc positioned within the second outlet duct, and a shaft coupled to the first and second valve discs such that rotation of the shaft rotates both the first and second valve discs within the first and second outlet ducts, respectively. A flow control member in the second outlet duct surrounds the second valve disc, and is configured to restrict fluid flow passing through the second outlet duct to a greater extent than the fluid flow passing through the first outlet duct for a given degree of rotation of the first and second valve discs. A corresponding ACC system, gas turbine and method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 11306842
Abstract: An active clearance control valve (ACC Valve) includes a valve housing with a thermal shield provided externally to said housing, wherein said valve housing and said thermal shield have been integrally formed as one component. This may be achieved using additive manufacturing methods. Cooling channels and/or ribs may also be provided on or in the thermal shield.

  • Publication number: 20200139435
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a component is described comprising building a preform from a powdered first material, the preform having residual porosity, applying a coating of a second material to a porous surface of the preform by a cold spray powder deposition process to form a coated preform having a gas-tight surface, and then consolidating the coated preform to produce a component. The component may comprise a duct system.

  • Patent number: 10167974
Abstract: A check valve comprises a valve housing defining a valve opening, a pair of mounting posts arranged on opposed sides of the valve opening and a hinge pin mounted between the mounting posts. A pair of flapper elements are pivotably mounted to the hinge pin for rotation relative to the housing between an open position in which they permit fluid flow through the valve opening and a closed position in which they prevent fluid flow through the valve opening. The valve further comprises a stop mounted between the mounting posts above the hinge pin and extending across the valve opening such that the flapper elements will contact the stop in their open positions. The stop is a coil spring.

  • Patent number: 9890864
Abstract: A check valve comprises a valve body defining a valve opening and a pair of valve elements mounted so as to be movable from a closed position in which they close the valve opening to prevent fluid flow through the opening to an open position in which they permit fluid flow through the opening. The valve further comprises a one piece bridge element having first and second end portions mounted to the valve housing on opposite sides of the valve opening and an intermediate portion extending between the end portions. The intermediate portion acts as a stop for the valve elements in their open position. A shaft mounting the valve elements for pivotal movement between their open and closed positions, is supported in the end portions of the bridge element. Fasteners for attaching the bridge element to the valve housing overlap the ends of the valve shaft thereby retaining it in the bridge element.
