  • Patent number: 4839471
Abstract: Seals particularly for cable splice closures having two diametrically opposed sealing members. The sealing members are of soft material with a maximum Shore hardness of 15 and preferably a Shore hardness of 10. A sealing rib of each sealing member extends into a cavity to be occupied by the cable with the sealing members assembled together. Each sealing rib bridges axially between a seal base and a rib stiffening element which is spaced axially of the base and inwardly of the radially outer limits of the base. When assembled into a housing with the base of the seal supported by the housing, the rib stiffening element is spaced from the housing. The rib is deflected radially outwards by engagement with a cable and causes outward resilient deflection of the rib stiffening element which provides resilient support for the rib while permitting it to deflect over a wide range of diameters.

  • Patent number: 4831215
Abstract: Aerial splice closures with a closure casing of two casing portions and an elastomeric seal at each end of the closure. Each seal has two seal halves with each seal half having an outwardly extending resilient lug which passes through an aperture formed in its casing portion to mount the seal half in the casing portion. Preferably, each lug has a lateral flange which engages the outside surface of the casing portion.

  • Patent number: 4731501
Abstract: Entrance terminal housing having walls sealed together at their junctions and defining a chamber opening. A removable cover is provided for the opening and a seal between walls and cover. In preferred arrangements, removable covers isolate terminals within the housing from other terminals and also isolate the terminals from the rest of the chamber. A fire resistant conductor sleeve is provided of flexible material and is of radially expansible and collapsible tapered tubular form for sealing around a range of numbers of conductors passing through a wall of the housing. In one construction, the sleeve has axially extending corrugations which allow for its expansion and collapse.

  • Patent number: 4465328
Abstract: A rotatable latch, as for the door of an enclosure, has a positive indication of latching, the indication capable of being felt and heard. A rotatable latch member mounted, for example, on the door, has a radially extending finger which engages with a latch plate mounted on the door frame. The latch plate has an inclined surface up which moves the finger, against a spring bias. At the end of the inclined surface is a detent into which the finger snaps, under the action of the spring bias, when the rotatable latch member is in a fully latched position. The snapping of the finger into the detent can be both felt and heard.
