  • Publication number: 20130267932
Abstract: Various embodiments of needle assemblies for use with a drug delivery device to deliver two or more medicaments are provided. Additionally, various embodiments of methods for delivering two or medicaments are provided. In one embodiment, a needle assembly comprises an injection needle, a proximal housing member, a distal housing member, and a medicament transfer element. The proximal housing member contains a first medicament and is configured to attach to a drug delivery device containing a second medicament. The distal housing member is movably engaged with the proximal housing member such that relative axial movement between the proximal and distal housing members causes the first medicament to be delivered. Upon activation of the drug delivery device (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20130253465
Abstract: A dispense interface component for use with a drug delivery device is provided. The dispense interface component may include a main body, a first piercing portion, a second piercing portion, and a biasing element. The main body is configured for connection to the drug delivery device. The first piercing portion is for piercing a first cartridge contained within the drug delivery device, and the first piercing portion is connected to the main body. The second piercing portion is for piercing a second cartridge contained with the drug delivery device, and the second piercing portion is connected to the main body. The at least one biasing element is operably coupled to the main body, wherein the at least one biasing element is configured to, when the load on the at least one biasing element is less than or equal to a threshold load, bias (i) the first piercing portion away from the first cartridge and (ii) the second piercing portion away from the second cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20130253427
Abstract: A component for a drug delivery device comprises a key validation part and a safety part. The key validation part is configured to interact with a key part of another component of the drug delivery device during the assembly of the drug delivery device. In order to support the use of matching components, the safety part is configured to have a different impact if the key part is matched to the key validation part compared to if the key part is not matched to the key validation part.

  • Publication number: 20110070421
Abstract: An object having a surface that has: filaments having a length of from 30 to 6000 ?m, a diameter to length ratio of from 1:10 to 1:20, and are bound to the surface with at least one front face thereof; wherein the distance between two neighboring filaments on the surface is such that the ratio of such distance to the length of the filaments is from 1:3 to 1:10; the filaments have an elasticity of from 104 to 1010 N/m2; the surface of the filament is at least partially hydrophobic, so that the contact angle between a filament and water is greater than 100°, characterized in that the filaments are structurally or chemically anisotropic.
