  • Patent number: 9637434
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for obtaining ethanol from a carbohydrate-containing raw substrate wherein the ethanol that is produced is separated during fermentation using a carrier gas. The invention further relates to the adsorption of the ethanol from the gas phase to an adsorber, the desorption of the ethanol during a subsequent process step, and to the further concentration of the ethanol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 8, 2010
Date of Patent: May 2, 2017
Assignee: SUD-CHEMIE IP GMBH & CO. KG

  • Publication number: 20160312177
Abstract: The invention provides a microbial eukaryotic cell capable of utilizing C5 sugars, in particular xylose. Another objective of the invention is to provide an improved protein sequence to enable eukaryotic cells to degrade C5 sugars. The present invention thus provides protein comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 75% identity, preferably 80% identity, most preferably 90% identity, most highly preferably 95% identity to SEQ ID NO. 2 or SEQ ID NO. 8 and having xylose-isomerase activity in a eukaryotic cell.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 12, 2016
    Publication date: October 27, 2016
Inventors: Zdravko DRAGOVIC, Christian Gamauf, Christoph Reisinger, Ulrich Kettling
  • Patent number: 9005936
Abstract: The invention is directed to a liquefied sugar beet and/or sugar cane biomass material as well as production methods and uses thereof. The liquefied biomass is storage stable and can be used for the production of a product resulting from fermentation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 21, 2010

  • Publication number: 20140045227
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for degradation of lignocellulosic biomass, which has optionally been pre-treated. It is based on the finding that hydrolysis efficiency of the biomass is enhanced in the presence of a mechanically or chemically treated microorganism capable of producing the respective hydrolytic enzymes. The invention therefore provides a process for degradation of lignocellulosic biomass with integrated produced enzyme cocktails. The invention also provides a process wherein the part of the optionally pre-treated lignocellulosic biomass is incorporated into the final growth medium of the fungus.
