  • Patent number: 5491894
Abstract: A wire stripper has outer jaws to grip the wire sheath and inner jaws to cut into the sheath before the inner jaws are displaced along the cable relative to the outer jaws to strip the cut portion. An eccentric adjuster is provided to vary the position of one inner jaw relative to its outer jaw so as to cope with widely different insulation thicknesses.

  • Patent number: 5187833
Abstract: A suction pump for removing molten solder having a piston spring driven away from the nozzle so as to induce a vacuum and draw molten solder into the barrel. The stroke of the barrel is controlled by a detent including a cross-pin 19 which can be selectively engaged with any one of a series of notches in the piston rod, so that the length of the spring driven stroke depends upon which notch was engaged when the detent is released.

  • Patent number: 5009005
Abstract: A cable stripping tool has a pair of jaws which can be closed together, one of which is formed with cruciform slots 14, 16, so that a cable can be supported in one or other of the slots. The other jaw carries a cutting tool aligned with the center of the slots, so that when the cable is so inserted and the jaws are closed, the tool will cut into the cable and then by pulling the cable along the length of its supporting slot 14, an axially extending cut can be produced into the cable sheath; or by rotating the complete tool about the cable when it is supported in the slot 16, an encircling cut can be produced. The position of the cutter relative to the center point of the cruciform slots can be adjusted angularly so as to keep the blade in the best position irrespective of the diameter of the cable involved.

  • Patent number: 5009130
Abstract: A tool for stripping the insulation and screen layers from a coaxial cable has a body in which a plurality of spaced blades is supported by a carrier that is movable toward and away from a cable that may be located in a position to be engaged by the blades. A pawl and ratchet latching device holds the blade carrier in stripping position, but is releasable to enable the carrier to be moved to a position in which cables can be fitted to and removed from the tool. The blade carrier also is movable to an extreme position in which one set of blades may be replaced by another.

  • Patent number: 4979299
Abstract: A coaxial cable stripper (FIG. 1) has a tubular body 10 locating a cable guide 40. One part of the body 26 is hinged at 24 and carries cutters 34 36 38 which project through a window in the body so that as the part 26 is moved angularly the cutters can bite into the cable supported at 48 on the cable guide and to different depths according to the relative projection of the blades. The axial spacing of the cutters is dictated by pacing pieces between the blades. The angular position is controlled by a ratchet 20. The tool is turned about the cable to make encircling cuts and then pulled axially of the cable to strip off the sheathing.

  • Patent number: 4648773
Abstract: Integrated circuit components are loaded in Indian file in carrier tube and retained in position by headed pin at each end of the tube. The invention provides a spring bale to locate the tube in position on a support pillar, along which the tubes are fed under gravity, the spring bale providing a cam track for automatic engagement with a pin head so as to displace the pin to a position in which the chips can feed as the tube is assembled to the pillar without requiring any separate manipulative action.

  • Patent number: 4625386
Abstract: A combination tool is provided (FIG. 1) for carrying out all of the operations necessary to connect a telephone jack to the appropriate cable, by first cutting the cable to the length using cutting blades provided on the tool, and then stripping the insulation sheet from the cable by stripping blades also provided on the tool, subsequently crimping the jack to the cable using a punch and die crimping set also provided on the tool. The tool comprises a pair of parts 10, 12 which are generally parallel to one another and are closed together by a lever 40 using a fulcrum and roller system.

  • Patent number: 4485696
Abstract: Wire stripping apparatus is described (FIG. 1) in which movement of a lever handle 18 towards a second handle 12 causes an actuator plate 50 to shift laterally so as to cam displace gripping jaw 14 towards the second gripping jaw 10. Cutting jaws 28 30 are provided between the gripping jaws to penetrate the sheath of the cable. When the cable is firmly gripped and the sheath penetrated, the vectorial force applied by the inclined link 54 displaces the actuator axially (arrow B) to move the cutting jaws relative to the gripping jaws and strip the severed portion of the sheath along the core of the cable. The actuator undergoes a complex lateral and axial movement dependent upon the parameters of the cable being treated and by virtue of the triangular slot 56 in the actuator thus enabling the extent of lateral movement before commencement of axial movement to vary according to the cable.

  • Patent number: 4366619
Abstract: A hand operated tool is described having three blades (40) which can be individually set and which are all manually retractable. After retraction the cable (22) is located in an aperture (16, 18, 20) adjacent a selected one of the blades, and the blades are all spring returned. The device is rotated about the cable to make the cut, and then moved axially to strip the severed portion. FIG. 3 shows the device with part of the housing (10) or body removed to enable the working to be seen.

  • Patent number: 4329891
Abstract: A wire stripping tool is described in which the gripping jaw is pivoted mid-way along its length to a frame part and at one extreme end to a lever handle. The lever handle is connected to a drawbar by a pair of links so that in closing movement of the lever handle one of the links serves to aid jaw closing, and subsequently the second of the links displaces the drawbar so that a cutting jaw mounted inside the gripping jaw is displaced relative to the gripping jaw.

  • Patent number: 4072069
Abstract: The invention provides a tool for stripping the sheath or covering from a wire or cable, comprising a pair of gripping jaws for holding the sheath and a pair of cutting jaws for cutting the sheath, means for closing the pairs together and then for separating the pairs so as to displace the cut portion relative to the gripped portion, in which the displacing means includes a lost motion coupling so that an initial portion of the displacement is used for jaw closing but without effecting relative displacement, and with the jaw closing being effected by a cam which is arranged to provide for jaw opening at the end of the displacement movement.
