  • Publication number: 20240224397
Abstract: A driver for use with a light source is presented. The driver includes a first circuit and a second circuit. The first circuit is adapted to control an amount of current flowing through the light source to switch the light source between a first state when the light source is on and a second state when the light source is off. The second circuit is adapted to generate a leak current so that during the second state the leak current flows through the light source.

  • Patent number: 11395388
Abstract: There is presented a current driver and a corresponding method for driving a current-controlled component such as a semiconductor light source with a driving current. The current driver includes a current regulator for regulating the driving current, a power circuit, and an input stage. The input stage receives a first signal and a second signal and is operable in two phases. In the first phase, the first signal is used to power the power circuit, and in the second phase, the second signal is used to power the power circuit. The current driver may be implemented in an array of cells in which each cell includes a current driver coupled to a current controlled component. The array of cells may be a part of a display device.

  • Patent number: 11373568
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) circuit for preventing parasitic current flow through a first LED when the first LED is in an off state is described, where the parasitic current flow is a result of one or more parasitic capacitances, the LED circuit comprising the first LED, and a first current switch coupled to the first LED and arranged to enable a current flow through the first LED when the first current switch is in an on state, where the first current switch is arranged to discharge the one or more parasitic capacitances when the first current switch is in the on state.

  • Patent number: 10990559
Abstract: A serial communication protocol for daisy-chained slave devices does away with the requirement for an entire byte of dummy clocks to be cycled between a slave's input and output, instead requiring a shorter set of dummy clock cycles which improves efficiency of a serial communication system. According to a specification of a serial communications protocol, data is exchanged between master and slave devices in communication frames. Each communication frame has a command portion and a data portion, and each respective portion may comprise packages of one or more bytes.

  • Patent number: 10897151
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for charge recycling. The method is comprised of the steps of receiving a charge at an energy storage element from a parasitic component, storing the charge at the energy storage element, and providing the charge stored at the energy storage element to a power supply's input or output. The step of receiving the charge at the energy storage element includes operating a discharging switch to selectively couple the parasitic component with the energy storage element and receiving the charge at the energy storage element via the discharging switch when the energy storage element and the parasitic component are coupled.

  • Patent number: 9907131
Abstract: An arbitrary alignment is provided for a series of pulses controlling a switch that in turn controls a current in an LED. Each pulse is generated according to a target time responsive to a reference time in a corresponding cycle of a synchronization clock. Each pulse has a leading portion that precedes its target time and a trailing portion subsequent to its target time. The arbitrary alignment defines the relative size of the leading portion to the trailing portion such that these relative sizes are incrementally changed across successive ones of the pulses.
