  • Publication number: 20090284542
Abstract: In an implementation, an image is distorted for display on a display device to give an appearance of a lens being applied to the image. A brightness level of the appearance of the lens for display on the display device is adjusted such that the brightness level of the appearance of the lens differs from a brightness level of the portion of the image that surrounds the appearance of the lens.

  • Publication number: 20090265656
Abstract: Detail-in-context techniques are described. In an implementation, an original image is distorted to produce a distorted region for a selected object at a first position in an original image displayed on a display screen. The distorted region magnifies at least a portion of the object. A signal is received to drag the object and the distorted region from the first position to a second position. A signal is received to drop the object at the second position. The distorted region is removed from the original image after the object is dropped at the second position.

  • Publication number: 20090204672
Abstract: A method in a server coupled to a device through a network for delivering message content to the device, the method comprising: maintaining at the server a message content store, the message content store including message content sorted by geographic position, class, and subclass; receiving at the server from the device a request message for message content, the request message including a geographic position of the device, an extent of a geographic region surrounding the geographic position of the device, a class, and a subclass; determining at the server the message content using the geographic position, the extent, the class, and the subclass; and, sending a response message including the message content from the server to the device, wherein the message content is displayed on a display screen of the device.

  • Publication number: 20090147023
Abstract: In one or more implementations, a cropped image is defined within a boundary on an original image displayed on a display. The original image is distorted to give an appearance of a lens being applied to the original image displayed on the display, the appearance of the lens including a focal region and a base region. A graphical user interface (“GUI”) is displayed on the display for adjusting the appearance of the lens.

  • Patent number: 7489321
Abstract: A method for cropping a computer generated original image on a display, comprising the steps of: adjusting a user-selected movable boundary on the original image to define a cropped image within the boundary, the boundary defined by two or more points on the original image; and, distorting the original image in regions surrounding the points, whereby the boundary is accurately positioned for cropping. And, a method for measuring within a computer generated original image on a display, comprising the steps of: adjusting a user-selected movable line segment on the original image to define points on the original image for measuring between; and, distorting the original image in regions surrounding the points, whereby the points are accurately positioned for measuring.

  • Publication number: 20090024476
Abstract: A method for presenting advertisement images on a display screen, comprising: subdividing a map image into a plurality of geographic regions; associating a first advertisement image with a first region and a second advertisement image with a second region, the first and second regions being ones of the plurality of geographic regions; receiving a signal indicative of a region-of-interest, the region-of-interest being another of the plurality of geographic regions; selecting an advertisement image for the region-of-interest from among the first and second advertisement images; generating a presentation of the region-of-interest, the presentation including a view of the advertisement image; and, displaying the presentation on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 7472354
Abstract: A method for positioning a selected object in a computer generated original image on a display, comprising the steps of: distorting the original image to produce a distorted region for the object; dragging the object and the distorted region to a desired position; and, dropping the object at the desired position, whereby the object is accurately positioned. The steps of dragging and dropping are preferably performed by moving a cursor on the display with a pointing device such as a mouse.
