Abstract: A system for generating electricity is provided. The system uses magnetic and potential energy inherent in the magnets and weight of a magnet wheel of a magnetic drive unit which converts this energy into kinetic energy and torque applied to a drive shaft, which then drives an electrical alternator. The magnetic wheel is a fly wheel made from non-magnetic material having a unique arrangement of magnets around its periphery. An electromagnet is powered by a switch that is activated by a magnetic flux of permanent magnets arranged on the magnet wheel. Once the wheel and drive shaft are rotating at a steady-state rotational speed, the pulsating excitation of electromagnets pulls the permanent magnets on the magnet wheel, which keeps the wheel and ultimately the integral drive shaft rotating. The rotation of the drive shaft enables the alternator to generate electricity.
