Abstract: The system includes a bollard, a primary casing that houses the bollard, and a portion of the actuating system used to initiate the selective deployment of the bollard. The serviceable elements of the actuating system deployed within the casing are limited to a pneumatically operated cylinder and piston, and when applicable, position sensors attached to the cylinder. The present invention solves the problem of accessing the serviceable elements of the system by mechanically linking the cylinder and piston to a removable access section that closes an access opening in the bollard. When the removable access section is removed and pulled away from the bollard, the piston and cylinder, which may include the position sensors, are drawn out of the casing through the access opening for servicing. Any hoses attached to the cylinder will also be at least partially drawn through the access opening.
