  • Publication number: 20080216144
Abstract: A system and method for spectral node splitting in cable TV network based on hybrid fiber-coax architecture is disclosed. Two-way optical signals carrying video and/or multimedia content are received at a signal distribution node. Portions of the received signals are processed according to the functionality the direction thereof. Certain frequency ranges are passed intact while specific different downstream and specific different upstream frequency bands are converted in a manner as to be allowed to be multiplexed into an extended broadband signal. The frequency bands within the extended broadband signal are distributed selectively among separate branches of the network. The frequency bands dedicated to the upstream traffic are received selectively from the separate network branches to be back converted and transmitted upstream to the network controller.

  • Patent number: 7406021
Abstract: An optical information storage medium has multiple information layers. On each layer, information is stored in the form of an electroluminescent material. The pits are organized into regions called pages. A specific page on a specific layer can be addressed through electrodes integrated into the medium. The medium can be read-only or WORM. For the WORM embodiment, a recordable electroluminescent material is combined with a quencher and a free radical generating compound that, when thermally degraded, generates free radicals to bleach the quencher. To amplify the light from an information layer, a photoconductive layer and an additional electroluminescent layer can be provided.

  • Publication number: 20070061854
Abstract: A system and method for the transmission of a dynamic bandwidth dynamic content signal across a transmission-tiered communications network is disclosed. The network enables simultaneously the transmission of an extended-bandwidth signal carrying a full set of content information units and a set of unique CATV-standard-bandwidth signals carrying optionally different sub-sets of content information units selected specifically from the extended-bandwidth signal and delivered to targeted groups of subscribers. The unique CATV-standard-bandwidth signals are created by an extended signal-processing unit in response to specific control information generated in the network following particular requests submitted by the network the subscribers. Subsequently, the unique signals are transmitted to the subscribers via CATV-standard components.

  • Patent number: 6338935
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a multi-layer optical information carrier with fluorescence reading/recording is presented. A structure is fabricated, being formed of a substrate carrying a fluorescent film on one or both surfaces thereof, wherein the substrate is transparent with respect to incident radiation used for the fluorescence reading/recording. A patterned structure is applied to the fluorescent film under predetermined process conditions, such as to produce a fluorescent patterned structure with a surface relief in the form of an array of discrete fluorescent regions. The same procedure is repeated a required number of times, so as to obtain at the end of the process a multi-layer optical information carrier.
