Abstract: A cooking apparatus includes, but is not limited to, a bottom surface that lies at the bottom of a perimeter wall and having one or more stands operable to support a cooking plate, the perimeter wall having an angled edge; an electric heating element that can be interchangeably positioned on the one or more stands; a gas heating element that can be interchangeably positioned on the one or more stands; a cooking plate that is operable to seat on the base above the electric or gas heating element, is detachable from the base, and has an angled edge portion complimentary to that of the perimeter wall; a lid that is operable to rest over the cooking plate and extends beyond the perimeter edge of the cooking plate but completely covers the plate and allows for condensation to drip outside of the plate.

Abstract: In one aspect, an electric cooker comprises a pan that may have a planar upper surface portion, and a lid configured such that condensation that collects on its inner surface drains outside the pan. In another aspect, a serpentine heating element may be mounted to the bottom of the pan along a course that reduces disparity in heating of the upper surface of the pan.

Abstract: Upper and lower housing portions 4, 6, and 8 are connected together around a reduced width interface 10. An electric heating element 38 projects upwardly from the top to allow containers of various sizes to be placed on the element 38. The element 38 has a plug-in connector 40 received into a receptacle 44 carried by a side projection 6 of the housing. An electric conductor 46 extends inside the housing from the receptacle 44 down into a switch 48 mounted on the lower housing portion 8. The stove housing is dimensioned to position the element to be readily accessible by a person seating on the ground or a chair when the stove is resting on the ground, and also to be readily accessible to a person standing adjacent to a table on which the stove is resting. The height of the lower portion is sufficient to isolate a surface on which the stove is resting from excessive heat.
