  • Patent number: 6117521
Abstract: A plastic, lightweight formwork for concrete, which is an integrally molded article of a crosslinked polymer obtained by mixing a monomer solution A of a metathesis polymerizable cycloolefin containing a catalyst component of a metathesis polymerization catalyst system and a monomer solution B of a metathesis polymerizable cycloolefin containing an activator component of a metathesis polymerization catalyst system, injecting the mixture into a mold and subjecting the mixture to polymerization and a crosslinking reaction in the mold. (1) The formwork has a rectangular plate having a front surface and having a longitudinal length of 1,000-4,000 mm, a lateral length which is 1/2-1/10 of the longitudinal length and a thickness of 3-10 mm, and a reverse surface of the plate has a frame surrounding the plate and 3 to 6 crosspiece ribs are longitudinally formed on the reverse surface, the frame surrounding the plate having a thickness of 5 to 20 mm and a height of 40 to 100 mm.

  • Patent number: 5096644
Abstract: A molded article is produced by metathesis polymerization of a mixture containing at least one metathesis polymerizable monomer, a metathesis polymerization catalyst and an organic or inorganic filler material which has been treated with a vinyl-substituted silane coupler having at least one hydrolyzable group in addition to the vinyl group.

  • Patent number: 5055499
Abstract: A method is disclosed for preparing filled shaped articles of metathesis polymerized poly(cycloolefins) wherein an inorganic filler material is treated with a norbornene-substituted silane coupling agent. The norbornene moiety copolymerizes with the metathesis polymerizable monomer and the silane moiety creates a bond with the filler. Products are characterized by improved physical properties.

  • Patent number: 5019620
Abstract: An elastic crosslinked metathesis polymer composition is disclosed comprised of a copolymer of a norbornene-type compound which metathesis polymerizes to a linear polymer and a norbornene-type compound having a second double bond of similar reactivity which forms a crosslinked polymer, and a hydrocarbon-based extending oil. Norbornene and dicyclopentadiene are typical comonomers. Polymerization is carried out by a RIM or resin injection molding process.

  • Patent number: 5015710
Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing a blend of a metathesis polymer and a radical polymer wherein a norbornene polymer is metathesis polymerized in the presence of a vinyl compound having two double bonds in conjugated relationship. Also included in the system is a compound capable of being reduced to a radical by the reduced valence transition metal element which serves as the catalyst of the metathesis polymerization. Examples of such compounds are specific chlorinated organic and chlorinated inorganic compounds.

  • Patent number: 4874574
Abstract: A control rod has blades each of which includes a neutron absorption region in which neutron absorbers each loaded to the core of a reactor from below and made of absorption nuclear chain type neutron absorber are disposed. The neutron absorption region is divided into two, upper and lower, regions in an axial direction; the boundary between the upper and lower regions is positioned within the range of from 3/8 to 5/8 of the full length of the neutron absorption region in the axial direction from the lower end of the neutron absorption region; and the quantity of the absorption nuclear chain type neutron absorber contained in the lower region in the section perpendicular to the axial direction is smaller than the quantity of the absorption nuclear chain type neutron absorber contained in the upper region in the section perpendicular to the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 4749753
Abstract: An intimate mixture comprising (A) a substantially linear aromatic polyazole and (B) a sparingly crystallizable aromatic copolyamide having a glass transition temperature of at least 200.degree. C. and a flow initiation temperature of not more than 500.degree. C. in such proportions represented by A/(A+B)=0.15-0.70 by weight, and a process for producing the intimate mixture, which comprises dissolving the aromatic polyazole (A) and the aromatic copolyamide (B) in a weight ratio represented by A/(A+B)=0.15-0.70 in a common solvent, and forming an intimate mixture of the aromatic polyazole (A) and the aromatic copolyamide (B) from the solution using a coagulating agent.
