    Abstract: Improved method of laser induced photothermal displacement spectroscopy comprises the steps of applying pulsed laser light to the solution in a sample container, whereupon the light energy absorbed by the solution is converted to heat, with the resulting elastic wave displacing the wall of the sample container by vibrations, detecting the displacement by heterodyne interferometry, and measuring the absorption spectrum of the solution.
