Publication number: 20150329090Abstract: A travel control apparatus includes: a low speed travel apparatus that performs low speed travel control, in which a vehicle is caused to travel at a low speed, without the need for a driver to perform a braking/driving operation; a behavior control apparatus that permits vehicle behavior control in which a driving force applied to a vehicle wheel is reduced when an estimated vehicle speed equals or exceeds a permission reference value; and an amendment unit that amends the behavior control such that the driving force is less likely to be reduced during the behavior control by reducing the estimated vehicle speed when a specific condition, in which the estimated vehicle speed is highly likely to equal or exceed the permission reference value during execution of the low speed travel control even though an actual vehicle speed of the vehicle is lower than the permission reference value, is established.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2015Publication date: November 19, 2015Applicant: TOYOTA JIDOSHA KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Ryochi WATANABE, Hiroshi OHMINE, Zensaku MURAKAMI

Patent number: 6851766Abstract: A traction control apparatus for a vehicle sets an allowable slip ratio to a constant value that is rather great, when the shift position of a sub-transmission is in “H4”, or the shift position of the sub-transmission is in “L4” and the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value among wheel speeds of each driving wheel is less than a wheel speed difference threshold value. On the other hand, when the shift position of the sub-transmission is in “L4” and the difference is not less than the wheel speed difference threshold value, the traction control apparatus for the vehicle of the present invention sets the allowable slip ratio to a constant value that is smaller than the above-mentioned constant value. In case where the slip ratio of each driving wheel exceeds the allowable slip ratio set as described above, predetermined braking force is exerted on each driving wheel so as to place the slip ratio of each driving wheel within the allowable slip ratio.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2003Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Assignees: Advics Co., Ltd., Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Toshimi Ishikawa, Zensaku Murakami, Noritaka Yamada

Patent number: 6702717Abstract: A vehicle-behavior control apparatus for a vehicle with a center differential comprising of a control unit adopted to be connected to a braking system and vehicle status sensors. This control unit directs the braking system to distribute suitable braking force to each wheels in response to a spin or driftout moment determined by any outputs of the vehicle sensors and a state of the center differential determined by a differential state sensor.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2003Date of Patent: March 9, 2004Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Zensaku Murakami

Patent number: 6292734Abstract: A vehicle-behavior control apparatus for the vehicle with a sub-transmission comprising of a control unit. This control unit is adapted to be connected to an engine system and vehicle status sensors, and directs the engine system to suppress a traction in response to spin or driftout moment determined from any outputs of the vehicle status sensors. The control unit limits the suppression of the traction when a position sensor of the sub-transmission indicates that the sub-transmission is at a lower speed range.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Zensaku Murakami, Akira Nagae

Patent number: 4852950Abstract: A braking system for a motor vehicle, including a wheel cylinders provided on wheels of the vehicle for braking the wheels with braking pressures corresponding to an operation of a brake operating member, a speed detector for detecting a running speed of the vehicle, a stop control device for lowering the braking pressures of the wheel cylinders when the detected vehicle speed falls below a predetermined reference value, and thereby reducing an amount of rock-back of the vehicle driver/passenger upon stopping of the vehicle, a slope determining device for determining whether a road on which the vehicle is running is a level road, an uphill or a downhill, and a device for determining a pressure-decrease pattern in which the braking pressures of the wheel cylinders are lowered by the stop control device, according to a result of the determination by the slope determining device.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1988Date of Patent: August 1, 1989Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Zensaku Murakami

Patent number: 4761022Abstract: Provided is a so-called active suspension controller for a vehicle especially effective during turning. The controller comprises: an actuator provided between the body and every wheel of the vehicle; sensors for a turning condition of the vehicle, here the turning condition including a steering angle, vehicle speed, yaw rate and others; and a control apparatus responsive to the sensed turning condition for driving the actuators in order to control the allotment ratio between the front and the rear axles of the load shift between the right and the left wheels. The allotted load shift realizes stable turning under various circumstances.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1987Date of Patent: August 2, 1988Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kaoru Ohashi, Chiaki Hamada, Hiroshi Kawakami, Yutaka Hirano, Zensaku Murakami

Patent number: 3932002Abstract: Apparatus for controlling an hydraulic braking system for an automotive vehicle is operated to apply a reduced braking force upon the innermost wheels of the vehicle during turning thereof in order to prevent undesired locking of the inside wheels. The apparatus comprises a pressure reducing valve connected in the hydraulic brake line extending from a master cylinder to the wheel cylinders of the left and right wheels of the vehicle and a directional control valve which operates to selectively apply to a given wheel either the higher hydraulic braking pressure directly from the master cylinder or a reduced pressure which is produced by passing the hydraulic fluid from the master cylinder through the pressure reducing valve before application to the wheel cylinders.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1974Date of Patent: January 13, 1976Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Norio Komoda, Zensaku Murakami
