  • Patent number: 5197153
Abstract: An air bubble generating device for use in a bathtub has a casing with an electric pump operative to take in and pressurize water from the bathtub, an air inlet operative to take in air from a region above the water in the bathtub, and a nozzle operative to jet a mixture of air taken in by the air inlet and water taken in and pressurized by the electric pump. The casing is provided with means for gripping by hand and a plurality of suction cups on a rear side opposite the nozzle for attaching the casing to the inner wall surface of the bathtub. A power source unit for driving the electric pump is separate from the casing, and may convert power from a commercial power source to a DC current or house a DC secondary battery. The power source may be provided with an idling prevention circuit for suspending output current when the pump is in an idle state, and a rush current reducing circuit for reducing rush current when the electric pump is actuated.

  • Patent number: 4984313
Abstract: A bubble-bath apparatus producing a directable jet of bubble-charged water; the apparatus which may be hand-held or may be mounted on a wall of a bath tub, the apparatus comprising handles to facilitate handling by bathers; adjustable suction cups to allow mounting on nonplanar surfaces; an extendible air intake to allow the apparatus to function at various depths; an air intake head to reduce the level of noise emitted through the air intake; a water intake plate formed so as to produce a slight reduction in water pressure immediately below the apparatus, thereby increasing the stability of the apparatus when placed on the bottom of the bath tub; a motor to drive a water pump; a water pump; a mixing chamber to mix the air and water drawn in; and an adjustable jet nozzle to allow the discharged water to be directed in a desired direction.

  • Patent number: 4957101
Abstract: A portable bubble bath assembly disclosed is designed to be installed in the bathtub and includes an underwater electric pump, a nozzle and a retaining member for retaining the nozzle over the bath water upon the installment of the assembly. The pump has an inlet and an outlet. The nozzle is connected to the outlet of the pump. The retaining member includes: a setting member for stably setting the pump on the bottom wall of the bathtub; and a support member, interposed between the pump and the nozzle, for supporting the nozzle over the pump. The only step due upon the installment of this bubble bath assembly is the placing of the pump on the bottom wall of the bathtub with the nozzle positioned above the pump.

  • Patent number: 4942871
Abstract: There is disclosed a bubble bath assembly including a housing, a pump mechanism and a water-jetting mechanism. The housing has an inlet and an outlet. The pump means is encased within the housing in order to draw water into the housing through the inlet and to discharge water under pressure from the outlet. The water-jetting mechanism is communicatively connected to the outlet of the housing to discharge water in a jet therefrom. This assembly is characterized in that the housing includes a float for floating the bubble bath assembly on bath water in such a manner that the water-jetting mechanism is held over the bath water and the inlet of the housing is held under the bath water. The assembly is also characterized in that the water-jetting mechanism has an outlet port which directly confronts the bath water when the assembly floats on the bath water, so that water to be discharged from the water-jetting mechanism is directed to the surface of the bath water.

  • Patent number: 4774934
Abstract: A bubble bath assembly disclosed is designed to be installed in the vicinity of the side wall of a conventional bathtub and includes a pump, a suction pipe, a nozzle and a support housing. The pump has an inlet and an outlet. The suction pipe is connected to the inlet of the pump, and is adapted to be disposed within the bathtub. The nozzle is connected to the outlet of the pump. The support housing holds the nozzle in order to retain the nozzle over the water in the bathtub upon the installment of the assembly. When the pump is operated, water is drawn into the pump from the bathtub through the suction pipe, and is discharged in a jet from the nozzle against the surface of the water in the bathtub. This jet of water introduce oxygen into the bath water, resulting in the formation of a layer of minute bubbles over the surface of the bath water. When these innumerable bubbles break, they generate ultrasonic waves which help in preventing the human body from suffering from skin diseases and muscular pains.
