  • Publication number: 20150281853
Abstract: Systems and methods disclosed herein provide for low cost hearing assistance to improve intelligible hearing for those with normal hearing and to greatly improve hearing intelligibility for those with hearing problems. One goal of the systems and methods disclosed herein is to make hearing assistance algorithms easily accessible and available by implementing such algorithms using non-dedicated hardware platforms such as non-dedicated mobile computing devices, e.g., smartphones, PDA's and the like. In exemplary embodiments, the systems and method of the present disclosure integrate hearing assistance algorithms with multi-media algorithms in an API stack (similar to the implementation of audio effects such as stereo widening and psychoacoustic bass enhancement) thereby addressing processing delay concerns.

  • Publication number: 20060190725
Abstract: A method and system for measuring a user's productivity for a plurality of projects conducted on computer. The system allows manager and user to define the scope of the projects in which project-related computer activities will be recorded and productivity attributes will be derived. The system receives specifications comprising a public key and identities of a plurality of computer entities associated with the projects. The computer entities may comprise a plurality of files, file directories, or network communication channels, or any combination.

  • Publication number: 20060041760
Abstract: A trusted computer activity monitoring and recording system and method provides trust between the computer or the computer user which activities are being recorded and the supervisor who governs the monitoring and recording system by using a digital certificate comprising a plurality of policies and the public key of the supervisor. Computer activities are recorded and actions are performed according to the policies comprised in the certificate, and recorded data are encrypted using the public key comprised in the certificate. Recorded data may be further signed by digital signatures created with the private key of the computer or the computer user.

  • Publication number: 20050251499
Abstract: A method and system for ranking pages using valuations from readers is disclosed. A reader's time spent on a page is tracked, normalized on the length of the document, capped to limit the effect of one individual, and a reader valuation score of the page comprising the time is updated. Higher value of reader valuation score of a page represents longer time reader(s) spent on the page and therefore higher value to the reader(s). Pages containing relevant keywords can then be sorted by reader valuation scores. Reader valuation scores of pages can be maintained in a private account to help a reader more effectively organize his or her reading history, or be maintained for public to represent general readers' valuations on pages, or be maintained in groups of readers with attributes such as profession, educational level, age, sex to represent special group of readers' valuations on pages.

  • Publication number: 20040225877
Abstract: A method and system for protecting a computer system from malicious software operations in real-time is disclosed. The security system combines system and user activity information to derive a user initiation attribute indicating whether or not a system operation is initiated by a computer user, and stop secrete malicious software operations that are not initiated by a computer user. The security system incorporates a plurality of attributes to support flexible security policy design, warn about potentially damaging operations by Trojan programs, and dynamically create security policies to allow trusted programs to perform trusted operations.

  • Patent number: 6618397
Abstract: A group packet encapsulation and (optionally) compression system and method, including an encapsulation protocol increases packet transmission performance between two gateways or host computers by reducing data-link layer framing overhead, reducing packet routing overhead in gateways, compressing packet headers in the encapsulation packet, and increasing loss-less data compression ratio beyond that otherwise achievable in typical systems. Packets queued at a node configured in accordance with the present invention are classified, grouped, and encapsulated into a single packet as a function of having another such configured node in their path. The nodes exchange encapsulation packets, even though the packets within the encapsulation packet may ultimately have different destinations. Compression within an encapsulation packet may be performed on headers, payloads, or both.
