  • Patent number: 8578615
Abstract: A jigsaw may include a housing, a control member, a shoe member and a keel. The housing contains a motor and include a handle. The control member is moveable relative to the housing between at least a first position that implements a curve-cutting mode and a second position that implements a straight-cutting mode. The shoe member is connected to the housing and includes a bottom surface facing away from the housing. The keel is operable in a deployed configuration in which the keel protrudes through the bottom surface of the shoe member and a stowed configuration in which the keel does not protrude through the bottom surface of the shoe member. Relative motion between the shoe and the keel allows the keel to be in the deployed configuration when the control member is in the second position and the stowed configuration when the control member is in the first position.
