Abstract: A miniature audio jack connector (100) for electrically connecting a mating plug (200) includes an arched insulative housing (1), a number of conductive contacts (2) retained in the housing (1) and a pair of switch contacts (3) containing a movable contact (31) and an immovable contact (32). The housing defines a top wall (13), a plug-insertion hole (16) and an opening (134) through the top wall. The movable contact defines an elastic arm (312) with an emboss (313) extending into the plug-insertion hole and a mating portion for connecting with the immovable contact. The arm (312) is movable within the opening (134), thereby minimizing the profile of the insulative housing (1).

The grounding member (2) includes a base portion (21) secured on the housing, a mating portion (242) extending into the inner receiving space (12), a terminal portion (25) for inserting into a print circuit board (6) and a spring portion (26) extending beyond the housing for connecting to a metallic panel (5) of an electrical device. This grounding structure combines inner and outer grounding together by an integrated grounding piece, which enhance the grounding effect.

Abstract: A stacked electrical connector has an insulative housing (1), a plurality of signal contacts (23, 26) and a pair of contacts (24, 27, 25, 28) retained in the housing. The housing defines a mounting surface (19) for mounting on a printed circuit board and a receiving space (12) for receiving a mating plug (9). The switch contact includes a base portion retained in the housing and a spring arm extending from the base portion. An insulative separator (245) is formed on one spring arm and projects into the receiving space. The separator is moveable in a plane vertical to the mounting surface. When the mating plug inserts into the receiving space, the separator rotates and drives one switch contact to connect with the other switch contact.
