  • Patent number: 9341921
Abstract: A high-speed terahertz analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is provided. The ADC is comprised of an interferometer, a modulator and an array of detectors. The interferometer is configured to receive a carrier signal and guide a spoofed surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) wave in each of its two arms. The SSPP waves are emitted from the free end of each arm into a propagation space and combined in the space to form an interference wave. The modulator modulates the carrier signal in at least one of two arms with a modulating signal, where the radiation pattern of the interference wave in a far field of the propagation space is shifted in accordance with the amplitude of the modulating signal. The array of detectors are spatially separated from the interferometer by the propagation space and arranged to receive the interference wave.

  • Publication number: 20150346066
Abstract: Invention concerns a machine fault diagnostic system. Sensors are provided for sensing an operational parameter of the machine over time in use and outputting corresponding sensor signals. A machine operation diagnosis tool is arranged to receive the sensor signals and has a data store for operational parameter data indicative of a normal mode of machine operation and operational parameter data indicative of one or more known machine faults. The diagnosis tool has one or more processor arranged to compare the received sensor signals with the operational parameter data in the data store in order to determine a match with either the normal mode of operation or the one or more known machine fault, and wherein the processor sentences an unknown fault in the event that said match is not established. The system may record unknown faults and update the diagnosis tool as unknown faults become recognizable faults.

  • Publication number: 20150330838
Abstract: A Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) structure based on a doubly-corrugated spoofed surface plasmon polariton (DC-SSPP) waveguide is presented. The dependence of phase change on the dielectric loading of the DC-SSPP structure causes the output from both arms to interfere and enhance features on the transmission spectrum of the MZI. The proposed MZI structure can be used for tag-free bio-molecular sensing. The highly localized electro-magnetic field at frequencies close to SSPP resonance is shown to reduce the sample amount needed to produce interference patterns without affecting the selectivity of the sensing structure.

  • Publication number: 20140181839
Abstract: The present disclosure is applied to the technical field of data processing, and provided are a capacity-based multi-task scheduling method, apparatus and system. The method comprises: a scheduling node receiving a request for acquiring a task sent by a task executing node, the request carrying with a current load value and an available memory space of the task executing node; and the scheduling node deciding whether the current load value is less than a threshold, and carrying out task scheduling for the task executing node according to the available memory space of the task executing node if the current load value is less than the threshold. The present disclosure can effectively avoid the problems of overload, load, in sufficient memory, etc. of the task execution node, and increase the resource utilization rate of the task execution node and the task scheduling and executing efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20120330559
Abstract: Systems and methods for assembling a nucleic acid sequence are disclosed. A plurality of single fragment sequence reads and a plurality of paired fragment sequence reads are received. Each paired fragment sequence read comprises at least two sequence reads separated by an insert. Single fragment sequence reads are assembled into a plurality of contigs, and the paired fragment sequence reads are mapped to the contigs. Further, gap regions comprising a portion of the partially assembled nucleic acid sequence for which the single fragment sequence reads do not map are identified, and hanging pairwise sequence reads of the mapped paired fragment sequence reads are used to fill in the gap region.
