  • Publication number: 20220400372
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a User Equipment (UE) over a Radio Access Network (RAN) and externally exposes RAN data. A RAN controller comprises at least one of a near-Real Time RAN Intelligent Controller (near-RT RIC) and a non-Real Time RAN Intelligent Controller (non-RT RIC). The RAN controller controls the RAN, and the RAN responsively serves the UE. The RAN controller identifies RAN data that characterizes the RAN service to the UE. The RAN controller transfer the RAN data to a Network Exposure Function (NEF). The NEF receives the RAN data from the RAN controller and exposes the RAN data to an external data system like an Application Server (AS).

  • Publication number: 20220361051
Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a Session Management Function (SMF) transfers signaling to a User Plane Function (UPF) to deliver a wireless data service to a wireless User Equipment (UE). The UPF exchanges user data with the wireless UE over a source Radio Unit (RU) to deliver the wireless data service. A Radio Resource Control (RRC) detects the RU handover of the wireless UE from the source RU to a target RU and transfers an RU handover notice for the wireless UE the SMF. The SMF transfers new signaling to the UPF to modify the wireless data service for the wireless UE. The UPF exchanges additional user data with the wireless UE over the target RU to deliver the modified wireless data service to the wireless UE.

  • Publication number: 20220346089
Abstract: A wireless access node serves wireless User Equipment (UEs) and wireless Integrated Access and Backhaul Mobile Terminations (IAB MTs). A radio exchanges access communications with the UEs over a frequency channel. The radio receives an IAB request from one of the IAB MTs, and in response, a controller allocates the frequency channel into a UE subchannel and an MT subchannel. The radio now exchanges access communications with the UEs over the UE subchannel and exchanges backhaul communications with the wireless IAB MT over the MT subchannel. The controller reallocates the frequency channel when an IAB MT is added to give the new IAB MT its own MT subchannel. The controller reallocates the frequency channel when an IAB MT is removed to increase the size of the UE subchannel.

  • Patent number: 11445410
Abstract: A wireless communication system delivers a wireless data service to User Equipment (UE) responsive to a handover. A Centralized Unit (CU) transfers a handover registration to a Network Repository Function (NRF). A Session Management Function (SMF) transfers a handover subscription for the UE to the NRF. The CU detects a handover of the UE and responsively transfers a handover notice for the UE to the NRF. In response to the handover subscription for the UE from the SMF, the NRF transfers the handover notice for the UE to the SMF. The SMF modifies the wireless data service for the UE responsive to the handover notice for the UE. For example, the SMF may implement data encryption for the UE responsive to the handover.

  • Publication number: 20220232435
Abstract: User circuitry within a wireless User Equipment (“UE”) in need of a network slice or a handoff between cells identifies a slice service type. The user circuitry processes an uplink interference threshold of a target cell based on the slice service type. The user circuitry identifies a preferred operating frequency band based on the slice service type and the uplink interference threshold of the target cell. The user circuitry transfers a service request for a wireless data service having the slice service type over the preferred operating frequency band to network circuitry. The network circuitry wirelessly exchanges data with a wireless access node associated with the target cell over the preferred operating frequency band to establish a packet data unit session comprising the slice service type.
