    Abstract: For controlling the heating of heating posts in a hair roller heater in which each heating post includes a respective resistive heating element, an emulator or physical model has a thermal time constant that is about equal to the time constant of each post assembly to emulate the thermal behaviour of the heating posts during both heating and cooling. Direct temperature feedback from the emulator to a thermostatic switch is used for controlling the current delivered to the heating elements.

    Abstract: A method of heating water comprises providing a helical passageway in juxtaposition a metal core rod and a coil through which an alternating current is passed. The alternating current generates an alternating longitudinal magnetic field that passes through the metal core rod and gives rise to eddy currents that generate heat. Water flowing along a helical passageway is heated and at the same time the water is magnetized as it cuts across lines of magnetic force of the alternating longitudinal magnetic field. A magnetized water generator for uses with the method comprises two bulkheads, a coil, a metal core rod and an outer tube. The core rod is disposed within the outer tube to create a helical passageway. The outer tube and core rod are disposed within the coil. A bulkhead is disposed on each end of the outer tube. Water enters the helical passageway through the water inlet in one end bulkhead and out of the helical passageway via a water outlet on the other end bulkhead.

    Abstract: Apparatus for melting a solid mass of wax is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a housing having a base and a sidewall. A heating element is disposed inside the housing and positioned near the base for generating heat. A heat conducting plate is positioned above the heating element for conducting the heat from the heating element to melt a bottom surface of the solid mass of wax. A control circuit is provided for automatically controlling a temperature of the heating element. In operation, the apparatus performs a fast and efficient method for melting wax. A bottom surface of the solid wax mass is melted into a bottom layer of melted wax using the heating element. The heating element is shut off once the bottom layer of melted wax reaches a desired volume. A portion of the bottom layer of melted wax is transferred to a top surface of the solid wax mass to create a top layer of melted wax, so that a remaining core of solid wax mass is disposed between the top and bottom layers of melted wax.
