    Abstract: A method is described for building a numerical model. The method includes (a) defining a plurality of objective functions; (b) defining a plurality of parameters and obtaining a plurality of values for the plurality of parameters; (c) determining a plurality of simulation candidates from a plurality of iterations; and (d) filtering the plurality of simulation candidates from the plurality of iterations to select at least one numerical model for generating a prediction. For each iteration, the method includes: creating a plurality of proxies for each objective function and selecting a created proxy for each objective function, where at least one created proxy for each objective function includes a machine learning proxy, performing Monte Carlo sampling using the selected proxies and the defined plurality of parameters, and rejecting a subset of the created plurality of Monte Carlo samples responsive to the plurality of objective functions and acceptance criteria.

The method includes obtaining hydraulic fracturing data; constructing a structured grid model using the obtained hydraulic fracturing data, where the structured grid model includes time-varying connectivity equivalent to the at least one parent well hydraulic fracture and the at least one child well hydraulic fracture to represent dynamically changing connectivity between wells and capture hydraulic fracturing growth; embedding fracture flow-based parameters into the structured grid model to generate a fine scale grid of permeability values; upscaling the fine scale grid of permeability values into a coarse scale grid of permeability values to determine a single connectivity value for each well pair; constructing a time varying connectivity curve for each well pair using the determined connectivity values for each well pair; and utilizing the time varying connectivity curve to calculate the Water Movement from Child well to Parent well.

    Abstract: Embodiments for generating a reservoir performance forecast are provided. The embodiments may be executed by a computer system. In one embodiment, a method includes obtaining inflow performance relationship data generated from a physics-based subsurface-surface coupled simulation model having a surface, a subsurface, and one or more wells fluidly connecting the subsurface to the surface. The inflow performance relationship data comprises performance data for at least one phase of fluid for each well. The method also includes generating a performance forecast for the reservoir using a subsurface simulator and a surface simulator. The subsurface simulator uses the inflow performance relationship data to represent the subsurface during generation of the performance forecast, and the performance forecast satisfies constraints solved by the surface simulator. In one embodiment, a method does not utilize a surface simulator.
