  • Publication number: 20060265530
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and a device for processing optical signals in a computer mouse, which is related to electric digital data processing. The method is that the relative displacement vector between the mouse device and the illuminated object surface producing laser speckles is reflected by means of collecting movement information of laser speckle signals. The device for carrying out the method consists of a mouse body; inside said mouse body, an amplifying and shaping module, a direction identifying and counting module and a computer interface circuit for processing photoelectric signals are disposed and connected in sequence, characterized in that, said device further includes at least one laser device and a photo sensor for receiving laser speckle signals from the object surface illuminated by laser beams. Said photo sensor transfers the received photoelectric signals to the amplifying and shaping module.

  • Publication number: 20060150049
Abstract: A method of adjusting received speech volume in a handset is disclosed. The method comprises initialize a variable BFI_FACTOR as 1. Using the BFI (bad frame indicator) to determine whether a current received speech frame is erroneous or not. If the current received speech frame is not erroneous, determining if the BFI_FACTOR is less than one and if so incrementing the BFI_FACTOR. If the BFI indicates an erroneous frame, determining if the BFI_FACTOR is above a minimum value and if so decrementing the BFI_FACTOR. Finally, the current speech signal is multiplied by the BFI_FACTOR and played to the user.

  • Publication number: 20050171454
Abstract: A fertility determining system employing hormone level measuring apparatus on selected days in a menstrual cycle to determine the levels of analytes, i.e., estrone-3-glucuronide (“E3G”) and luteinizing hormone (“LH”), in early morning urine. The fertility/infertility signalling algorithm relies upon data characterizing the user earlier in that menstrual cycle, and also upon her analyte pattern in past recent cycles. At a point in a menstrual cycle which is user-dependent, the early morning E3G urine level is compared against the lower E3G level earlier in the cycle. The beginning of the fertile period is signalled when a sufficient E3G increase occurs. The end of the fertile period (and, correspondingly, the reestablishment of a period requiring no contraception) is signalled a period after the LH surge. In the absence of an LH surge in any subject, the end of the fertile phase is signalled a period of time following the peak of the E3G urinary metabolite of estradiol.

  • Publication number: 20050165094
Abstract: Compounds for use in the treatment of heart disease include a superoxide scavenger and an organic nitrate or nitrite moiety. The compounds can be represented by the formula (A)n(B)m, in which A is a superoxide scavenger, B is an organic nitrate or organic nitrite moiety, and n and m are values between 1 and 8. These compounds do not suffer from the problem of patient tolerance that is associated with the use of conventional agents such as organic nitrates.

  • Publication number: 20050130311
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of detecting a retarded cycle in a human female subject experiencing same, the method comprising the steps of obtaining a sample of body fluid from the subject on each of a plurality of, but not less than three, days; testing each of the plurality of samples to determine the concentration therein of at least one analyte of significance in the ovulatory cycle; comparing a result determined from said testing with a predetermined threshold value; and, if said determined result is different from the threshold value; declaring the cycle, during which the samples were taken, to be a retarded cycle.

  • Publication number: 20040013259
Abstract: In a system having a switching device in a first location, and an extending device in a second location, a method of providing a communications link between (i) a first phone associated with the extending device and (ii) a second phone local to the second location and not associated with the extending device includes analyzing parameters associated with the first phone and the second phone so as to determine that the first phone and the second phone are local to the second location. The method further includes separating signaling data associated with the communications link from voice traffic associated with the communications link. The method further includes directing the signaling data through the switching device via an extension link between the switching device and the extending device, and directing the voice traffic between the first phone and the second phone.

  • Patent number: 5687724
Abstract: The present invention encompasses apparatus and methods for determining variations in estimated signal-generator parameters derived from signals created by signal-generators, such as signal-generators within organs of the body, such as brain, head, spinal cord, and muscles. The present invention is particularly useful when more than one signal generator is non-zero in part or all of the time-interval analyzed. The parameters of a signal-generator that may be of interest include, but are not limited to, magnitude, location, and/or orientation, over single or multiple points in time.
